Had been to Pondy (Pondicherry) last weekend and on the way back i filled up my esteem (tank full) with regular fuel + system G as usual from IOC....

i again tanked up at the only shell outlet in chennai on my return.... had covered 154 kms and had to fill only 9 liters of petrol for a tankfull....

my speeds ranged between 100 and 120 as it was late in the night and i was dead tired....

i was indeed surprised and very very happy... my stage 1 esteem delivered 17.11 kmpl on that short 154 KM run.... touch wood !!!

and yeah i almost forgot my a/c was on throughout but the fan speed was at 1 and 2 and not any higher....

on a not so happy note.... some b@$t@rd ripped the LHS Rear view mirror from my car... however the outer casing is intact... only the round inner white plastic holder is broken.... any suggestions guys??? do i have to change the whole unit or can i get just the inside parts with the mirror? sorry mods, for hijacking the thread...

Thats the 3rd or 4th time I got that figure. Achieved at constant 60-70 kmph for abt 15 kms , no braking , nothing.

But still for a run of about 15kms (60kmph for 15 min) the figure is quite incredible!! So for a 100 km run it looks like an extra-terrestrial phenomenon...
Man you must know how to get that extra from the last drop.... tell this to the skoda guys... they may make u their brand ambassador!!!
Still 32km/lit WOWWW...

Honda City ZX.....mix of highway (60%) and city (40%) with AC on full time.....13.7 km/litre. This is before the first service (900kms run)...should improve as engine is run in thoroughly.

My little Maruti 800 gives me 14-15 kmpl in Mumbai with 25% ac on. On highway @ 80 kmph and ac on it goes upto 22 kmpl.

I drive a 4 year old Palio ELX.

My mileage is somewhat consistent:
City driving (with A/c) = 9-10 Kmpl
Highway driving (with A/c) = 14-16 Kmpl

I always test mileage at least once a month by driving from full tank (with trip meter at 0) to full tank refill.

The above figures were what I was getting till last week. I changed my tyres and wheels from stock last week. Tyres are a bit wider at 205/50 R15 (stock was 175). So far, mileage does not seem to have been affected by more than 0.3-0.7 kmpl. Probably because I've been driving more carefully out of concern for the new alloys (and to avoid the tyres fouling with the body everytime I negotiate a pothole).

n_c: Are you sure you are actually getting that FE on average? AFAIK, that indicator is real time. I notice the rev counter is almost on idle, diesel engines consume very little fuel when on idle. That indicator also fluctuated a lot on the test skoda I drove some time ago. Whenever I was at 2k-3k rpm, accelerating or cruising, it used to go up to 9 or 10. Ultimate test is what you fill up for what you drive.
