Swift 1.3 P

Spirited Driving on Highway : > 100 Kmph along with Vijayawada and Hyderabad B2B traffic.

Couldn't resist the fantastic roads between Hyderabad and Vijaywada which was fueled by the lack of time.

FE turns to be 13 kmpl . [tankful to tankful]

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Got 30.0 km/l on a 50 km trip on my GT TDI (actually got 30.2 but that pic is blurry so didn't include it).

I stick to the practice of driving sedately until the engine/coolant reaches its operating temp and not putting ac on until then. It really makes a difference.

In the return journey, 80-90 kmph was maintained and voila, the mileage turned out to be a very healthy [ and best till date] 16.72 kmpl .

Not bad for a G-series 1.3 Swift Petrol !

Hi. Last week did Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi
Drove 900 kms in a single tank with speed 80-100 kmph in my Grand i10 CRDI
Got amazing 25.5 kmpl tankful to tankful with AC on 80% of time. Used engine braking at all possible instances.
Roads are awesome in the stretch except few cities where flyovers are under construction. Hope in a couple of years the train time taken and road would be same.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: FIAT Punto 90HP.

Driving Conditions: Highway. 564 kms solo drive, starting from Yelahanka in Bangalore -> Berur -> Tarikere -> Chikmagalur -> Hassan till Hebbal in Bangalore. Not flat highways as Chikmagalur is a famous hillstation and the I guess there should be a 1000 feet variation in altitude between these places.

Average speed of 54 kmph. Was cruising at speeds of 80 - 90 kmph most of the time. A/C on for 75% of the time except to enjoy the fresh breeze on the hills.

Average FE: 22.9 kmpl. Tank was topped up before the drive and shows half full after 565 kms. Got to love the highway abilities of these new age turbo diesels. Amazing fuel efficiency without compromising too much on performance.

Amazing figures. However, hope the pic was not taken by the driver. Looks like a mobile phone shot from between the steering wheel. Not safe, as the car is still doing speeds above 40!

Lovely figures and that's similar number I get out of the Ertiga as well.

The number will reduce by ar least 1.5 to 2 kms with 3 more passengers, a trip to Kemmannugundi, Mulayanagiri etc.

Otherwise, Chikmagalur as a town is never a Hill station and is flat.

If anyone is approaching it from Hassan side, he may not even get a hint that he's arriving at a Hill station.

The Birur or Lingadahalli route has few kms of normal ghats (no Hair Pins) easily taken on 4th when solo.

The last 184 kms from Hassan to Bangalore is a flat out.

What I have noticed in the Ertiga is-

80Kmph - 24.xx
100kmph - 22.xx
120 kmph - 18.xx

Whenever I drive to Chikmagalur, My MID is always between 18.5 and 18 kmpl.

Like you say modern day Diesels are super efficient along with the fact that you don't need to really drive at very low speeds.

A Palio MJD of funkykar was driven in one tank from Bangalore to Pune and then Lavasa(where it was filled up) in Aug 2012 while we all attended a meet.

True. However, Chikmagalur is at 3400 feet as per wiki, but yes - you never feel the climb at any point. My usual runs are through TN highways which are truly flat like a table top.

Visited Kemmannugundi via the Bhadra sanctuary last time, and it made a mockery out of the 185mm clearance of my Punto (Had 4 passengers and boot full of luggage though!). From K.gudi to lingdehalli was better, but I'm not returning there unless i purchase a good SUV.

Ertiga almost has a 20 kmph crusing advantage more than the Punto 90hp, thanks to the taller gearing for the 5th gear. At 100 - I would be doing 2500 rpm and get around 20 - 21 kmpl for cruising.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

567 km in the Ecosport 1.5 tdci and it gulped down 27.56 liters.

=20.57 kmpl.

This is mix of 20% urban roads, rest normal 2 lane highway, with AC used for half the journey, brisk driving when the road is free, coasting in the urban places.

All this without even engaging the 5th gear for >15 seconds.

Car - Suzuki swift (My Dad's car)
Application - 100% city & 100% AC ON condition with only driver
ODO Reading - 26,000 Kms
