Fuel Efficiency - 12-13 Kmpl

I personally feel the fuel efficiency is lesser. Any swift owner please advice?. Thanks
Is it Petrol or Diesel ?

And What year is it [is it with a K-series Engine [new] or the G-series one [older one]] ?

IF its the older version, then it is a healthy mileage, per se !

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: Polo GT TSI
100% City
ODO: 2050 km
Fuel efficiency: 9-10 kmpl

It does go up to 13-14 kmpl during mornings before the rush hour but averages out in the evening as I get stuck in traffic.

Hello BHPian

Its actually a 2010 model Diesel engine. We use it only for city driving and very rarely on highways with well maintained service records. Is this FE normal ?. Thanks

1st Gen. Swift diesel, I guess . By watching the numbers, I thought it was a Petrol !
Since diesel engine in the old and new Swifts are not too different [ except for some refinements in the latter] , the owners , when totally driven in city, say they get 14-15 kmpl [ with full A/c] while some report it to be around 17-18 kmpl with light foot driving.

12-13 kmpl in your case seems to be a bit less even with the A/c on and city driving. Since it is a chauffeur-driven one, just check with the driving practices of your driver who might be getting into 'short sprints' .

Check the tyre pressures . Also try changing the fuel stations [ bad quality fuel also eats up the FE] .
P.s - I own a Swift 1.3 Petrol [ old] and I get 11-12 in city . And I expect a Swift Diesel to be more efficient than mine with at least 3-4 kmpl more

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I got 30. 5 km/l on a 40 km trip yesterday on my GT TDI. Sorry for the slightly hazy pic but it was a bit dark for the phone camera.

Hi Normally_crazy,

I am getting a average fuel efficiency of 19.6 kmpl on my swift vxi. The car has run 5300 kms in 10 months.

Warm Regards,

This is my best tankful so far.

FE: 15.25 kmpl
I'm thinking the city/highway breakup could be 14.5/17.5.

19.6 kmpl? Is this the figure calculated by the MID (the "AVG" reading)? If yes, from whatever I noticed, your actual figure would be 15-15.5 kmpl. If 19.6 is the figure calculated using tankful method, I would say this is great FE. What was the city-highway and ac on-off breakup, by the way?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Just completed the first tankful on my pre-owned 2007 Honda Odyssey 7 seater minivan (JDM). It has a K24 engine (160bhp, 4 cyl) with CVT. I have a daily office commute of around 80 km (to-and-fro).

The vehicle comes with an Econ mode switch which basically turns the aircon and CVT to their most frugal settings. Since the temperatures are still cool, I have not been using the aircon / heater. I was told to expect around 7 - 8 kpl. After the first tankful, I have managed to squeeze out around 11.7 kpl (670 km / 57.24L) which I think is pretty good for a car of its size.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Could not find any posts on Renault Duster in this thread for some time. My 110ps is used 50% local and 50% highway and is at 15k km's now. Cumulative FE so far is 18kmpl. With the summer starting now, I expect the the full year FE to be about 17.5kmpl by the time it completes 1 year with me.

City FE is quite good at about 17-18 kmpl which is same as Manza Diesel I had earlier. Highway FE is just about 18-19kmpl though, not much higher from city FE, especially since I don't drive beyond 100kmph on highways.

Overall I think I am quite happy with Duster 110ps FE, it's higher than what I expected.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Indica Vista Quadrajet - 14-16 kmpl (2010 BS-IV)

Skoda Rapid TDI - 19 kmpl (2014 BS-IV)

Both figures with AC in summers (07-08 months) and without AC in winters (04-05 months)

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Zen Estilo 2011 (K series) covered 92000 Kms.
19.5 Kmpl with 25% AC on a mix of highway and city, measured using tankful to tankful method.

My GT TSI, though fairly new
ODO: 730
Best:16 (Delhi Gurgaon)
Avg so far: 13.5 (Car mainly driven between Delhi and Gurgaon with a light foot)

I find my self in 7th gear more than i'd like to and on the other hand in traffic I find my self dragging the 2nd gear longer than I'd like to.

That's good. The DSG plays as per your driving style.
I am most of the time in stop, go traffic.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

With 3300 kms on the odo and third service round the corner, my City VMT petrol's FE figures have settled down to around 13 kmpl. City : highway driving is around 60 : 40. Though experts have assured that after the third service/ engine oil change, the figures would improve further, I am quite happy with these figures as it is frugal than my previous Wagon R which had a smaller engine displacement and still give me lesser mileage.
