I'm thinking the city/highway breakup could be 14.5/17.5.
Odometer reading: 3927
Fuel consumed: 26.05 liters of normal Indian Oil petrol
City-highway split: 100% city; 396 kms
AC: 100%
Method: tankful auto-cutoff (MID showed 18.9 kmpl for this period)
FE: 15.20 kmpl

I guess the gap between MID AVG and tankful AVG is closing down gradually. I'd ideally like the MID readings to be as close to the real FE as possible.

Apparently my Civic's MFD was malfunctioning.
I previously said I'm getting around 8.1kmpl.
I'm actually getting around 12kmpl. 🙌

This seems to be much more reasonable for an AT Civic.

I have observed in general that fe shown by vehicle is always higher than actual figure. Makes me wonder why put such an inaccurate meter in the console in the first place ? Or is it that all petrol tanks in our vehicles let a significant portion to evaporate over time ?

That is easily confirmed. If the MID and actual FE are nearly same in winters and differ widely in summers, then it is evaporation in summers that is the culprit.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Vento TSI

Total mileage is 600kms

I have driven approximately 300 kms in Mumbai city and 300 on Highway(Mumbai- Nasik) and the initial figures are:

city: 12kmpl
highway in sports mode with spirited driving: 15kmpl

worst mileage in Mumbai B2B traffic is 10kmpl
best is 15kmpl till date on highways.

The readings are MID based and are close to actual tankful to tankful method.
I hope as the engine runs in the mileage will improve

From whatever I had observed, people (non TeamBHPians/enthusiasts, of course) hardly calculate FE of their cars, and that too using the tankful method. I guess manufacturers find it rewarding to show them "good" numbers, leading eventually to positive word-of-mouth publicity.

I bought my petrol DZire in Sep 2014, and I calculated its mileage both in a winter and a summer. The AVG reading shown in the MID is always around 4 kpl more than the tankful one. I heard that diesel's is more closer to the actual. Can anyone confirm?

For the automatic petrol dzire that we have, it gives 9 or 10 in summers with ac, 11 to 12 without ac in winters in city. Only once it went on highway in feb and it gave 19.2 without ac. All these figures are using brim to brim method. The MID always shows 2 kmpl more than we actually get.

I am glad to hear that the Real time MID figures are close to the tankful method. Mine has done ~350 kms. managed to reach 17.1 kmpl once from vashi to airoli. All on D mode. worst mileage was 7-8 kmpl b2b traffic. on an average I have managed 12-13 kmpl in the city which is close to your numbers. Highways if driven on a light foot we should manage 19-20 kmpl say mumbai pune eway. what is the tyre pressure that you maintain?
