Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I drive an 2011 i10 Magna 1.2 and get between 11 - 12 in regular city conditions. All calculated based on tankful to tankful method.

On my recent trip to Pune last month, it retured an average FE of 16.

Approximately, the vehicle gives 15-15.5 km/l in city and 19-20 km/l on highways. I think the fuel efficiency has started to improve post 20K on the odo. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the figures.

I log my fill-ups on Fuelly, if anyone is interested.

Car : 2013 Skoda Rapid 1.6 tdi. 56000km done. A/C always switched ON.

Daily commute of 60km in Bangalore, mostly on the ring road and airport road.
So a total of only about 10km of bumper to bumper traffic. Rest of it is at maintaining speeds of 50 to 90 kmph in 4th and 5th gears.

MID displays anything between 16.5 and 21 kmpl depending on traffic and driving conditions.

Tankful method gives an average of 16.7 kmpl for my daily commute.

Highway runs are so much better. Generally maintain 80 to 120 kmph depending on road and traffic conditions. No sudden acceleration or braking.

So highway runs, tankful method
80 to 100 kmph returns upto 22. 5 kmpl
100 to 120 returns 19.5 to 20 kmpl

Extremely happy with this kind of fuel efficiency, can easily achieve a range of 950km+ on a full tank.

Mileage of 20kmpl in the scorching summer is indeed good. What is not good is the overconfidence shown by the MID. A 35% difference in displayed and actual mileage is too much. You must have coasted in gear/used minimum throttle input for a while before you took the photo. Did you?

As I mentioned, I am a sedate driver. So, expect minimum throttle most of the time!

The mileage in pic is the average for the last 500KMs.

I have a '14 Dzire VXi (same engine) too. It is indeed true that the MID shows 30% more than actual in petrol Swifts. Not sure whether it is the same in other Marutis that have the same engine -- Baleno, Ignis, Ritz, etc.,
