| ![]() I get 13.3 -13.7 (MID figures) on my Ertiga ZXI in normal usage. On highways i have normally got 16.5-16.7 with intermittent AC use. I believe that the MID figures have a slight error and they can be 1-1.5 km off. |

| ![]() Some tips to mark a better fuel efficiency: - Take enough time while starting, keeping in account the expected traffic. So you can drive relaxed and need not to have to push it hard. - Appreciate a feather touch. Please avoid flooring or jack-rabbit starts. Accelerate slowly. - Shift up the gear past 1500 RPM. Avoid unnecessary and repeated revving. - Avoid unnecessary overtaking or racing with others you sharing the rood with. Avoid over-speeding. 70-80 km/h cruise on the highways will return the best FE. Crossing 80 km/h mark / 2500+ RPM will have a drastic impact. (a typical petrol with manual transmission; varies with manufacturer/model) - Avoid braking as much as possible. - In city traffic conditions, try maintaining around 40-50 kmpl in 4th or 5th transmission level, no matter if the space allows for a quick pick. Because, soon you have to come down. - Take the advantage of scooting ability, especially if your car weighs a ton+. A traffic signal or a speed breaker or a toll plaza ahead, lift up the right foot from a distance. I bet you'll be amazed, how much distance your car manages to scoot. Its always better to scoot at idle than to stand and idle. All it needs is a little patience with timing and judgment, but believe me the results are astonishing. - Avoid idling unless the aircon is on. - Avoid traffic jams or peak hours as much as you can. Not possible, I know, but still try. - Avoid excessive usage of clutch. Your car hates it. Shift to neutral whenever standing idle. During those traffic snarls, its better to drive in 1st gear with fully released C pedal, rather than pulling it in 2nd gear with partially engaged clutch. - Not to mention correct tyre pressure. - Keep your car clean.(assists in decreasing the aerodynamic drag) That all said, let me share some of the best figures I could achieve: 2008 - Honda City ZX: 1.5L i-DSI L-series petrol motor A/C always on, 3 occupants + boot loaded with baggage. Achieved "about 25 kmpl" on the highway. Included some slowdowns and even snarls. There isn't any MID display for FE in this model. 2015 - Honda Jazz V MT: 1.2L i-vtec motor A/C always on, single occupancy, empty boot. Achieved "at least 26 kmpl" from Delhi to Gurgaon. Luckily no traffic jam anywhere, only some slowdowns. can say it as an ideal scenario. The MID displayed as much as 27.8 kmpl (which isn't accurate, but certainly 26 kmpl if not more). ![]() See these: Last edited by Nohonking : 17th May 2017 at 20:33. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Amazing figures for Honda i-vtec petrol engines , do we have any other petrol engines that give us such good figures . Does anyone have the numbers for new city . I am looking for a frugal automatic and I was closing in on TDi DSG models , but diesel future seems to be bleak and I am inclined towards a frugal petrol automatic. If Honda could launch HR-V I would be the first one to grab. |

| ![]() Did a roundtrip trip to a village in Hirekur taluq near Haveri for a wedding in a Swift ZXI - 795 kms door to door, with about 50+kms in rural roads / State highways. Rest of it was the NHs. Got an overall fuel efficiency of 18.5 kmpl - would say aggressive driving and ran at 120kmph for quite some time when the NHs were empty. |

Is this Micra or Sunny? ![]() If it's really the Sunny, 16.82 km/l is quite a good figure for a 1.6 liter petrol engine. |
