You never know. Delhi traffic can vary from absolute crawl speeds to 40-50 km/hr (or more ) depending on the location.

I'm not sure how people interpret the term "fuel efficiency in city". Suppose someone lives near NICE road in bangalore and drives 25km to Electronic city every day, he is going to get better fuel efficiency than that in many Indian highways. Just because this road is in Bangalore city and leading to ECity shouldn't qualify this as a city drive, in my opinion

That should be one of the reasons for unbelievably high city FE reported here. On the other hand, many of those who drive in many parts of Bangalore see lesser than expected FE as this city presents some of the worst case scenarios for city traffic.

True. Only the original posters can tell better.

I think we should use avg speed, instead of city/highway, as an indicator of the driving conditions.

This. I think everyone should post their average speed with the mileage numbers. This would make it much more apt for comparison.

On my office route (23 km one way), mileage reported by car varies from 10kmpl (late evening traffic) to 20kmpl (early morning) depending on traffic conditions.

Hyundai Xcent SX(O) Automatic. It has 4 speed torque converter transmission.

Overall mileage is 12kmpl (tank full to tank full, and I note data in an excel sheet).
Daily run is 50% highway, 50% city traffic. Driven mainly by my wife to work daily.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

We bought a New Swift VXI AMT on July 4th 2019 and currently the odo is at 2200 km. I have recently calculated the fuel efficiency through tank full to tank full method. Our general usage is 50% highway - 50% city and the mileage that we are able extract as of now is 17.9 kmpl.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

We own a Ford Figo 1.5 Petrol AT purchased in January 2016. The car has been used 100% in Bangalore city and has yet to see the highways. We mostly rent a self drive vehicle when we head out of town.

The Figo is used with the AC on full time and returns around 10 kmpl consistently. Mileage is calculated tank full to tank full.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2015 vento 1.6 MPI petrol
Driven 43k km’s in delhi traffic with few trips to the hills. Returns about 10 kmpl tank full to tank full.

2017 creta 1.6 petrol
Driven 24k km and is my daily drive to work. No outstation trips as I prefer the vento for the highways. The car returns about 13 kmpl tank full to tank full.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Santa Fe 4WD manual 1st gen returns around 10kmpl still on my mixed usage. Although MID says 8L / 100km its not correct. Its lower to around 10kmpl when converted and real world usage.

Little too.optimistic for a petrol engine. But being Maruti, can be very much accurate. I wonder how much the diesel would give?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have a 6 year old VW Polo 1.2 Petrol and the mileage figures are as below in Mumbai

1. Very bad traffic B2B - 6-7 kmpl
2. Moving traffic - 8-9 kmpl
3. Within Mumbai without traffic - 12 kmpl
4. National Highways - 14-16 kmpl

All figures as per MID

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Both my 2013 Dzire DDis & 2014 Honda Amaze i-Dtec give near or about 13kmpl in Mumbai city. This is strictly as per the MID. The mileage since the advent of the monsoon has dropped. Before that used to get slightly over 14kmpl.
