Did a round trip from Delhi to Mussoorie last month.

Car: 2014 Swift Zxi (~36k kms driven)
Trip Distance: 810 kms
Trip FE: 19.7 km/l
Driving conditions: Mild traffic, combination of highways and hills, minimal AC usage, 2 people in the car.

The car returned a respectable ~17 km/l in and around Mussoorie in spite of various steep 1st gear climbs. On our way back, we did face some traffic in UP but the car still returned upwards of 23 km/l that bumped up the average FE for this trip to 19.7 km/l.

(All figures are calculated via tank to tank method. MID readings were way off.)

Kms driven: 20k kms

Drive: Hyderabad to Kurnool and back. (i.e approximately 200kms one way)
Cruise control: Used 90% of the drive. Speed set at 80-85 KMPH.

I refuelled to the brim while exiting Hyderabad and refilled to the brim again immediately after entering Hyderabad.
Got a mind-blowing fuel efficiency of 25.8 KMPL.

City figures hover between 13-15 KMPL. Attaching the screenshot of Fuelio app for reference.

Indeed, cruise control helps a lot in getting such figures. Since I departed at around 11:30pm from Hyderabad, the highway was full of HYD-BLR buses. Following any one of them with a safe distance ahead helps in avoiding those extra braking situations thereby achieving better fuel economy. All thanks to GTO for giving the highway hack of guide cars.

Hyundai Verna SX 1.5 Petrol 2020

1100 kms on oddo, strictly within city, maintaining running in speeds. MID is showing anywhere between 13/15 with 100% A/C usage (auto AC set to 24/25/26).

Mileage is increasing steadily as I am putting on more kms. Car was returning 7/8 kmpl right after delivery !!



Yet to check with thankful method & highway as waiting for completion of first service !!

That's normal for a diesel compact SUV with a 1.5 liter diesel.

IMO for 1.6 NA engine in Mumbai traffic (if not heavy) this is good average. In heavy traffic it may go down to 8-9 I think.
Only cars like Alto' WagonR may give more average in Mumbai traffic.
Others using 1.6 or 1.5 NA engines can correct me if I am wrong please.

My 1.5 NA IVT Creta gives almost similar figures to what you have quoted here.
