1. I would like to post my vehicle figures

Vehicle model - Toyota Fortuner 3.0 4x4 MT

Year of manufacturing - 2010

Kms covered - 1,50,000 kms

2. Latest average for drive from Jhansi to Jalandhar - 13.8 km/l (out of which for Jhansi to Gurugram I got 14.3 km/l)

3. Average speed - Jhansi to Gurugram ~ 90 kmph and for beyond till Jalandhar ~ 100 kmph

Odometer: ~24,000 km at time of posting

I use the same pump in Poona, and almost always use the same nozzle. I fill until the auto cut-off, so there could be some variation in my results due to this.

The observed and MID fuel efficiency figures closely track the usage pattern (city vs highway). Assuming my observed figures to be reliable, the MID fuel efficiency figures err optimistically by 3-7%.

* some note down manually while filling petrol/diesel and then enter this into an excel sheet later
* some use 3rd part apps like Fuelly, Fuelio etc.
* some have the advantage of native app on their car

Any other methods?
What do you prefer, and why?

Hello everyone,

Sharing the fuel efficiency figures of my newly acquired Nissan Magnite Turbo XL.

Car model- Nissan Magnite Turbo XL model
Year- 2021
Odometer reading- 884kms
Mileage figures-

Got 18.75kmpl in city without AC on after travelling a distance of 15 kms.

Got 17.16kmpl overall mileage with 100% AC on while on a recent roadtrip in West Bengal of over 500kms. Average Speed during trip - 70 to 80kmph.(NH2/NH19)


City - 14-15 kmpl with AC
Highway- 17+kmpl with AC

These are all manual calculations not based on MID readings.
MID readings are 1% (+/-).

Personally prefer third party applications.
Reasons:
1. Easier to update (on the go)
2. Integrated with calendar, time and location (ease of update)
3. Auto calculations on FE and many other needful numbers (per day cost, per KM cost etc)
4. Provides good graphical representations (easier to read and analyze)

I prefer paper and pencil. The reason is that you have a permanent record that is immune to electronic glitches.

After that I periodically update the excel sheets
- Detailed logs, one for each calendar year
- Details for fuel filled
- Details of maintenance
- Details for capital expenses - tyres etc
- Details of fuel consumption - odometer for each fuel bar

So in the end I have all the details both as a hard copy and a soft copy where I can analyse to my heart's content

What I would love to have is an app that connects the phone/navigation computer to the vehicles and picks up the odometer, date and time. All I need to do is enter text or journey description. Something like GPS tracker which picks up data from the vehicle.

Alright, I would like to mentioned the best, worst and average fuel economy figures clocked by the vehicles my family owns including my personal two wheeler.


Toyota Etios Liva GD MY2013.

Best- 29 kmpl.
Worst- 16 kmpl.
Average - 19-21 kmpl.


Hyundai Gi10 Nios 1.2 kappa Magna MY2021.

Best - 26.7 kmpl.
Worst - 14 kmpl.
Average - 17 kmpl.

(Note- All above figures achieved with the AC on.)

AC: On 100% of the time
Total distance covered: 960 kms
Avg speed on expressway: 100-110km/hr
No. of passengers (excluding driver): 3
Luggage: One trolley bag.
Fuel economy: ~18kmpl

I drove from Delhi to Kanpur and back in my MS Swift VXi AMT. I used the Expressway till Etawah and then took NH 19. Surprisingly, the car returned a fuel economy of mere 18kmpl. I was expecting 20+kmpl (may be even 22+kmpl).

While driving from home to work and back in Delhi NCR, I end up getting 18kmpl to 19kmpl (at times). Seems my car's fuel efficiency is highly consistent (suspiciously so!) - regardless of whether I drive on the highway or in the city.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I take this as an outlier and expect much better fuel economy figures on my next highway run?

My car figures are as follows;

1) Make - Ford Ecosport
2) Diesel
3) Kms run - 60072
4) Within city(chennai) - 16km/l
5) Out of station drive(usually drive to trichy) - 17kms/L
6) AC - always on
7) Avg speed on highway - 120 kms/h
8) Luggage - always almost full load while driving out of station

Is this fuel efficiency ok? or less? Need someone's valuable comments.

Completed a long drive from Hyderabad to Delhi and I have the following stats to share on the highway drive

1) Car: Ford Ecosport TDci (2017). Current ODO : 22000
2) Fuel: Diesel
3) Kms run: 1500
4) Fuel Efficiency (Tank full method): 16.06 Km/L
5) Passengers: 2 Adult + 1 kid (12yrs)
6) Luggage Load: Full luggage in Boot and half load in Roof carrier
7) AC: Auto, always ON (Temp - 23-24 deg)
8) Avg highway speed: 100 kms/h
9) Tyre Pressure: Front 35 psi and Rear 40 psi


I was expecting the car to return a mileage of at least 18-19 because people have claimed 20+ on the highway runs in the Diesel Ecosport. Anything I should be changing here?

Car would give better numbers, if the average speed is between 80 to 100km/h and more towards 80. Lower RPMS at higher gear would have helped. Try it out next time.

We have managed 24 km/l driving at steady speed of 85-90 km/h on an onward journey. Return journey it fell to 19 km/l on some spirited driving.
