New creta
1.4 Turbo GDI - petrol.

Slight improvement in FE after 10K oil change.
Inside city with moderate traffic - 8 to 10 kmpl.

Recently did a 200 km trip, fully loaded - 5adults, plus 60kg luggage, AC in auto at 23 deg c. 40% 4 Lane highway, 40%two lane highway, 20%city roads all roads were patchy due to rain . Driven at 60-80 kmph.

Fuel economy in MID was an impressive 16kmpl.
Though turbo petrols aren't fuel efficient as NA's this 1.4 can give you good economy if driven around 80 kmph.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2010 Accord 2.4-

City: 7.8 km/L
Highway: 11.5 km/L

2013 Amaze 1.2-

City: 7.2 km/L
Highway: 12.5 km/L

All measurements tankful to tankful.

Notes:

Both cars run a TPMS system with live tyre pressure and temps, air pressure is set to mfg recommended cold air pressure specified on drivers side door sticker.

Mechanically near perfect, oil and filters changed every 6 months, OBD scans clear, checked every 6 months.

HVAC system is on at all times, be it cooling or heating (in winter).

Both vehicles have under 50k kms on the odo.

95% of usage is without any passengers.

Driver profile: focus on performance and quick acceleration, not fuel economy.

Tyres- Accord: Continental MC5, Amaze: Continental CC5

No modifications done to either, tyre sizes are stock as well.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2018 facelifted Ciaz Delta Petrol (2019 January registered)
Current Odo - 27,000 kms
Tankful to tankful average - 17.8 kmpl (I can extract around 550-580 kms in a 35 litres refill, on an average)
Usage pattern - Mumbai - Daman weekly runs.
Ciaz is primarily used for intercity drives and weekend long/late night drives (we try to not take the Ciaz out for drives<50kms one way)

2020 WagonR 1.0 CNG
Current Odo - 7500 kms
Full tank Average - 160-170 kms on CNG refill of 8 kgs (works out to about 3.5/- a km considering CNG per kg cost of INR 64/-)
Usage pattern - daily office drive, to and fro about 35 kms/weekend visits to relatives within Mumbai. Hardly the WagonR has been to trips beyond Mumbai.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Tata Tigor, XT Diesel, 2017 manufactured, 65000km done.

City runs in Mumbai(dense to medium traffic in suburbs) 14kmpl worst, 15-16 kmpl most of the times.

City runs Navi Mumbai (sparse traffic) 17-18 kmpl.

Highway runs with 4 passengers and full luggage with moderate foot, 20-22 kmpl.
Best acheived on highway 28 kmpl, Solapur Osmanabad highway, no passengers and butter smooth road cruising between 80-90 kmph.
Worst mileage on highway 17 kmpl, due to some spirited driving.

Noticed that FE is best at 2000-2300 rpm cruising, anything above that drops FE by 2-3kmpl.

All these figures are with 100% AC. Another thing noted that AC has minimal effect on FE unlike my K10

Alto K10, 2016 manufactured, 70000km done

City runs(Mumbai) average 14-15 kmpl
worst 12 kmpl due to terrible traffic

City runs(Navi Mumbai) average 16-17 kmpl
worst 13 kmpl(worn out clutch)

Highway
With 4 passengers 17-18 kmpl
No passengers 23-24 kmpl
Best achieved 25 kmpl(solo light footed drive, speed below 80 KMPH.

AC takes a toll of 2-3 kmpl, mileage is best at and below 2000rpm. No passengers vs Full capacity the difference in mileage comes to 5-6 kmpl.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Tata Zest XT diesel

Best FE I got initially was 30 KMPL as per MID at the end of a FE conscious driving on the highway. The car was brand new back then, and I had just switched from Nano.
FE Has reduced over time. It's 6 year old 89000 km ran and 6 year aged. Currently FE on mixed driving (80% Bangalore peak traffic drive plus 20% ) is 17 KMPL.

May be something to do with my driving style too.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2018 i20 Magna petrol. Around 11.5-13KMPL in city. Most of the times around 12.
Around 14-16KMPL on high way. Most of the times around 14.5.
I think my driving style is not good enough to get the numbers that other drivers report here. AC is 80-90% on with fan speed at 1 or 2.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hi all, just wanted to understand the right way for the tank to tank method.

Do we fill the tank till auto-cutoff or is the right method to fill it to the brim after over-riding auto-cutoff?

I am not sure if auto-cutoff levels are uniform across oil suppliers or if it will be same even at the same oil outlet.

1. Fill till auto cutoff

2. Good question. Auto cutoff levels vary between different bunks, and even between different dispensers in the same bunk. I have a habit of refilling at the same dispenser of the same bunk. Pretty accurate so far.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

at what stage should one refuel? Should it be immediately when 'reserve' is triggered?

Ideally when you’re at 1/3rd of the tank, waiting to hit reserve is not good for the life of the fuel pump, which sits inside your tank and is lubricated by fuel. Scotty Kilmer the YouTube legend and mechanic of over 40 years has a video explaining the issue in detail if you want to learn more.

Also, filling past auto cutoff at the bunk can seriously damage your cars EVAP system, you should always stop filling at the auto cut.
