Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hello fellow Bhpians, I have a doubt about mileage of my Swift 2017 petrol manual and thought of taking your opinion.
I have noticed that my car has been giving 12-14 kmpl in Pune traffic and on highway it gives around 17 kmpl. My daily run is from Baner to Magarpatta which is a high traffic zone, do you think 12 kmpl for Swift is right or should I make changes in my driving style to get better fuel economy?
Highway runs are ocassional, once a month.

Depends more on the traffic than anything else. My swift in Kolkata traffic consistently gives around 14-15 kmpl. In marutis the actual fuel economy is about 1 kmpl less than shown in the cluster. If you are still concerned , I would suggest take fuel from JioBP pump and calculate by tankful method. Among all the fuel outlets in my experience JioBP gives the most mileage .

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Brio is returning single digit efficiency in the city and almost 18-19kmpl on the highway. Is such a big difference expected?

If your running distance is short and you spend most of the time in traffic jams etc then I would not be surprised. 18-19 on the highway means the engine is fine.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have a Slavia Style 1.0 AT and I drive in the chaotic, mad-traffic of an urban jungle that is Mumbai and my daily round trip is 15kms. I also do occasional weekend trips in a 200km radius of the city (7-8 times a year).

In CY2024 I spent Rs 65,000 for around 6,000km, hence my per km cost was ~Rs 11. I use XP95 which on average costs Rs 110/ltr, and I consumed ~588 liters to cover the said distance, resulting in an average fuel efficiency of ~10kmpl. Given the context of Mumbai traffic and the thirsty turbo petrol, I thought this is not too bad at all. And my fuel efficiency has increased after the second annual service (around the 10,000km mark).

I also have an Ignis Zeta AMT in Chennai, my hometown. It's a wonderful little machine - I did a recent 900kms+ trip of Chennai > Bangalore > Pondicherry > Chennai, and it returned an average of 18kmpl measured on a tank to tank basis in a mix of highway and Bangalore/Chennai city traffic. My parents use it mostly as a city commuter and it returns around 14-15kmpl in Chennai city traffic.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I drove my friend's Tata Tiago XZ MT (2018 model) for around an year. I did a couple of long drives and here's my mileage these rides.

Bengaluru to Pondicherry and return: 770 kms and got mileage of 18.8 kmpl (Pic attached). The ride was mostly on highways but it did include some portion for traffic in both cities.

Bengaluru to Bandipura and return: 486 kms and got mileage of 21.3 kmpl (Pic attached). The ride was mostly on highways though some area did include off roads.

In bumper to bumper traffic I am getting 9-10 kmpl. All data are from MID only.
