When I was driving at 80kmph at an average, my mileage was around 12kmpl in my 1.3GETZ. When I wanted to check the mileage with lesser speed, I found that it returned a consistent 13.5kmpl with 60-70kmph.
The route to my office at Mysore is a pretty easier one with very less traffic. Occasional city ride accompanied.

Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Bikaner-Jaipur- the roads here were straight and empty, maintained 140kph all along with occasional bursts to 160-170,bikaner to jaipur at 100kmph constant- 16.3kpl

The day my dad got the Fiesta 1.6 SXi, he visits the petrol pump more often.. Didnt pay much attention while driving on city roads (air con always on). But on highways we got an average of around 13.5-14kpl with ac.

Points to be noted: Woke up specially at 5am and got the fuel filled. Was the 3rd guy to get the fuel filled at PUMP as i asked them. So getting fuel filled early in the mornings do help a bit!

ha ha

the palio 1.6 engine has zero degree cam overlapping... at no given time both inlet and exhaust walves are open..
so fuel is not lost through the exhaust valve without geting power out of it!!<99.99% car engines have some degree of valve overlapping!!
so the power u get is what is demanded by the driver through the accelerator..
palio 1.6 engine has a load sensing function as well as the vehicle speed sensing and gear selection in the programming... so mismatch of these +bad driving conditions in the city will give u lower avrage...
how many 1000.+kg cars producing 100+bhp<un officially 103> cloking 0-100 kmph in sub 11.5 seconds costing sub 5 lac give such good milages!!!
ONE THING FOR SURE.. AS THERE IS NO VALVE OVERLAP FRESH AIR FUEL MIXTURE IS NOT THROWN OUT THROUGH EXHAUST...
AND AS IT HAS WIDE BAND LAMBDA SENSOR +32 BIT PROCESSOR TO CONTROL THE AIR FUEL MIXTURE AT VERY HIGH FREQUENCY CLSER TO 14.7;1 AIR FUEL RATIO . THE ENGINE OR THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE . LOWER FUEL AVRAGES

My WagonR:
City driving : 11.5 to 14.5 kms, depending on traffic density and AC usage
Highway : 16 to 16.5 kms, with AC on 70% of the time.

Ford Fiesta 1.6:
City driving : 11 to 13.5 kms, varies due to traffic density and AC usage (worst was 10.2 with heavy-footed driving)
Highway :-13.7 to 16.5. The higher figure of 16.5 was during my recent trip to Mumbai over a stretch of 330 kms (with 50% AC) and at speeds below 100.
A sprited dash on the Pune expressway (between 120 to 170) lowered the mileage to 14, with 70%% AC usage.
