That's an excellent fuel consumption figure. What does your car give you if you're travelling at hwy speeds of 100-120 and in the city?

After Mods City - 16kmpl, Hwy - 19kmpl

At 'normal' speeds I get 10.5 kmpl.
At 'arrogant' speeds I get only 8.5 kmpl.

My overall average over 35,000 kms is 10.98 kmpl.
(I drive around 90% on Highways only).

After the second service oil change and 8.5k's clocked on the odo, i'm getting 15.5-16 constantly with 100% a/c on in my Logan 1.5 dCi.

City:
Best 16.3kmpl
Worst (before 1st service) 13.5kmpl

Highway
Best 24kmpl with 100% a/c on ( 2 people on board; Republic day long weekend trip to Daman after 2nd service & an earlier solo trip to nasik got 23.5kmpl)
Worst 19.5kmpl with 100% a/c on (before 2nd service; trip to Shirdi 5 adults + 1 kid on board)

Accent Viva 1.6L DOHC... less said the better!

For the last 7000 kms or so, I have been getting the following FE on my Palio Multijet

City
Best: 19.3 kmpl
Worst: 14.7 kmpl
Average: 17.6 kmpl

Highway:
Best: 20 kmpl
Worst: 18 kmpl

Highway FE could have been better, primarily because of hills and because of being over 2000 RPM most of the time.

Actual FE : I have always driven my Palio MJD on Premium Diesel and it has always returned me an FE of 21kmpl.

Traffic conditions : 60% Expressway, 30% City, 30% very bad bumper to bumper traffic.

How I drive : I always shift gears under 2000rpm and cross 2000rpm mark only in 5th gear.

I am getting 9-10 kmpl with AC in city driving, Mumbai South-North! Car is Getz 1.3. I have recorded 14 kmpl with AC on highway drives and on an average, 12-13 kmpl easily on highways.

I suspect the fuel quality to be the spoil sport since I am tied to one petrol pump only (BP in Ballard Estate). Earlier, I was getting 10-11 kmpl in city driving conditions.

If i rip her i get around 8.5 in city and 11 on highways.And these figures are with 15" alloys on an Accent(petrol)

How does the mileage increase in winter? Is it the effect of using AC in Summer?
For me the mileage has dropped by 2 mpg in winter (it snows quite a bit here and goes to sub-zero temperatures). I guess this is because the engine takes much longer to heat up and get to an optimum temperature.

Multiple factors contribute to increase FE in winter.
- No AC use
- Lesser evaporation of fuel from tank
- Denser specific gravity of fuel (more grams per litre)
- Denser air intake into cylinders resulting in better combustion.

Extremely low temperatures may reduce FE if drives are short-distance, as you rightly pointed out, because the engine takes a long time to reach normal running temp. Also, the engine oil has reduced lubricity in severely cold conditions, so frictional losses may be higher during cold running.

I have also noticed the increase in FE during last few months. AC is definitely a factor but I am not sure about other factors as our cars are always parked in covered parking. Let's see what happens during the April / May time.
