What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Xeta GLG (20K running) gives me
~12-14 for city driving with around 60% AC
~14-16 for Highways with around 50% AC

My 2001 Hyundai Accent GLX gives the following mileage relatively consistent
~13-14 kmpl on highway driving with 20% AC
~12 kmpl on highway driving with 70% AC
~11.5 - 12 city driving with 80% AC

Of course my daily commute is a straight 11 km stretch each way from one end of Palm Beach drive to the other end which is the highway driving

Palio 1.2 ELX - 2002

City (Bangalore) 10kmpl with minimal AC
Highway 14-15kmpl (100% AC)

Driving style: Sedate, with occasional high-revving.

Mods:
K&N Replacement Filter
Michelin XM1 185/60/R13 on stock Rims - 30psi(F/R)
[Upsizing resulted in average coming down by 0.5 - 1 kmpl. (Highway - City)]

Fuel:
BP Regular Unleaded

Mileage:
40K

Mods: Green Cotton Replacement Filter (will be changing to CAI after gaining some Vitamin M)

City - 50% AC - 11 kmpl (NO AC in the night thanks to dark sunfilms! )
Highway - 15 kmpl

All figures with pedal to metal and a 1.3 under the bonnet

FE test (carried out by my tuner) under sane driving conditions (in city):
With AC - 14 KMPL
Without AC 17 KMPL

Fuel: Shell Unleaded Petrol

Since when replacement filters are supposed to increase your FE? Infact, we should thank it if it does not let the FE down.

More Air intake, Free Accelaration, More you feel like revving and higher the consumption of petrol/diesel, just human pyschology

There might be increase in FE but I never noticed!
And for the FE to increase you will have to forget the replacement filters, CAI and drive slowly within the rev limits!

I asked him as many of these after market filters (K&N, Green Cotton) claim to increase FE.

I have not fitted one in any of my vehicles and as pulsar56 mentioned, I drive slowly within the rev limits to get the maximum FE

Kms. done : 3000
Condition : Stock
Method : Full tank to Full tank basis.
City FE : 11.84 kmpl with AC all the time.
Highway FE : 13.87 kmpl with AC at speeds between 120 to 160 kmph.

Oooh...That's (FE) exactly what my Tata Indica Xeta GLS, which is still 210K cheaper that Ritz ZXi, offers. Then, what is it so great about MUL's k-series petrol engine?
I don't know about others but this is an eye-opener for me - thanks for the info.

The car is still fairly new (~3,000 kms done) and the best FE is usually derived from the engine once it has crossed the 5,000-7,500 kms mark.

Also, the speeds mentioned on the highway (120-160 km/hr) are not ideal for FE. I'm sure once the Ritz clocks a few more miles, the FE will improve.

I'm just talking on Paper statistics. . .

Xeta is 63ps - Ritz is 85
Xeta is 980Kgs - Ritz Zxi is 1030
Xeta has 165 13 inch tyres - Ritz Zxi has 185 14 inchers.

If it still returns same FE, I'd say not bad!
