The i-vtec engine has been designed to be as frugal as possible at low revs/part throttle. So 20kmpl is expected from such a car.

Hey Bullock-car,

You are absolutely right in your findings. i too haven driven the same way and did get the same averages.

Sometimes, on the highway, i get a little carried away, so end up getting around 16. On My recent business tour to Coimbatore got me an average of about 18.

While i was travelling to mysore few weeks back, the average in the indicator was showing 23kmph. I have posted the pictures in other thread discussing fuel efficiency. Even if you discount 10%, its a good average. I was driving really in copy book style then.

Apart from the averages, the ANHC's handling is really good on the highways at good speed too. I think it will handle better, if the tyres are upgraded though.

keep posting.

Keep posting.

Hi Friends,
I rechecked the odo number ,there was an error in my computation ( i had seen the "range" after full tank instead of "distance", the final figure is 17.2 kmpl.).
Sorry guys. Based on ur experiences, such figures are not surprising.
Due to the running period, I was forced to limit my speeds and i i was in the right region of RPM and speed.
thanks for the feedback

That's a very good mileage. Lower the RPM better the mileage.

How different was the average shown by the car's multi function display and the actual mileage you calculated?

find that to be between 1.2-1.5 km for me.
Display shows 13.7, i get around 12.4. Difference is about the same in highways - Honda made it very optimistic

Alto 2008, ODO: 12500km, FE with 10% Ac usage is around 14kmpl in City and 19kmpl in highway speeds around 80kmph.

Safari Exi 2003 model, ODO 43000km, FE with 10% AC usage is around 8.6kmpl, 10% City and 90% highway use speeds around 90kmph with fast driving style. With normal driving style it returns 9.8kmpl with 10% Ac usage.

I am happy even If Petrol costs around 70/- per ltr. BUT beyond that I would plan my travel carefully As per my analysis 2010 end we might see Petrol cost around 66/- per ltr and Diesel around 47/- per ltr.

Ravi.

From Fiat Linea................

I was Deliberately trying to get a good mileage figure, so adjusted my driving pattern to that. But the road condition was poor so didn't managed to touch 30 km/l

Ravi.
Even if whole of 2010 averages these rates or lower, Cheers to you!! Its just too scary to imagine what we may have to pay for fuel a year hence.

Ritz VDI

I've now completed 13k kms in my Ritz VDI, which is mostly driven by a driver (so subject to slightly tough driving behaviours). Here is what I have experienced so far:

First 10k kms:
15.5 - 16.5 kmpl - City driving - AC 75% on.
19 kmpl - Highway driving - AC 75% on.

Post 10k kms (and post the 3rd service):
The mileage has been constantly on the rise, the first 2-3 tankfulls gave me 16.5 - 17 kmpl (with almost 50% AC in city driving).
Recent tankfull have me a pleasing 18.3 kmpl, with no AC, city driving.

Overall, quite happy with the mileage I'm getting, especially the conditions that the car is subject to.

Cheers!

Swift VDI Update 2

Hello ,

Here is my second update on the FE of swift-VDI. The overall best I got is 26.5, this was for one of my Ratnagiri to Pune trip. I had pre-planned that I will not exceed 70 kmph, just to see how much FE I get.

Surprising figures literally! I never manage more than 16kmpl in the city, and the best I got on highway was around 23kmpl with speeds above 100 that time!

I am getting
city ~13kmpl

Net avg of 4000km ODO -- 14.75 kmpl

Best -- 17kmpl

All the above figures for tankful to tankful mileage readings

last 3 times my Ritz Vdi has returned. 19 - 20 - 20 km/l, in typical Delhi gurgaon travel and it's not been driven with a light foot.
