Anhc

I get about 13 KMPL in my ANHC, run about 2500 kms. I am hoping this would improve after 1st service.
On highway with 100% AC on, and even at higher speeds it gives me about 14.2 KMPL.

That's great mileage for a petrol car, bnzjon. Do you have any idea what's the approx. average speed you can maintain during these city trips?

Any tips or hands-on observation/tution would be very welcome.

I have updated the driving method to achieve optimum Fuel Efficiency inmy thread:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...ta-diesel.html

For your reference, the same is reproduced below:

Generally my driving is around 25 to 30 km per day for office commuting (to and fro). In the mornings (7.30 am) roads are less congested but in the evenings, there will be medium to heavy traffic.

Other than this regular driving, we go for 100 to 150 km drive once or twice in a month.

My driving pattern is similar to what all you guys do. But I practice some methods which I hope will be useful to others:

1. When in bumper to bumper traffic, I will be very careful not to raise the engine RPM above 1500 - 1700. Even for all gear shifting, I ensure that the RPM stays below this level. Unwanted acceleration drinks fuel and is of no use in the congusted traffic.

2. If I plan to go to a crowded shopping place, generally I plan the parking spot and drive to the nearest comfortable parking place. I will not search for a parking place after reaching the destination. This helps a lot.

3. While waiting in traffic signal, I will switch off the engine if I find the stoppage is more than 30 sec.

4. Very smooth usage of clutch and that too absolutely on necessity only. I always keep my feet away from clutch. I also avoid sudden acceleration. Very gentle use of the clutch and acclerator is an absolut must, especially in bumper to bumper traffic.

5. Anticipatory driving is also key. In my regular travel to office, I know all places of trouble. Generally I will try to anticipate the problems. I keep a good distance away from trucks and buses, because they tend to stop in the middle of the road and that too at an unexpected time.

6. My high speed driving is limited to the long drives (once or twice in a month). During regular office usage, I don't get the opportunity to reach high speeds. Duirng highway driving, I tend to try 100-120 km/hour. But my regular driving is limited to less than 50-60 km/hour speed during my office commuting.

7. You can start 5 minutes early and you can see how comfortable you are in reaching your destination. No mental agony and no straining of the car.

Hope this is useful to all.

i need some help here. I have a Wagon R Vxi, sept 2008 model. Over the last 2~3 months i have been getting a mileage of 10.2 to 10.8 kmpl. this is in 100% city driving with AC on at all time. My Cedia returns about 11 kmpl. Both my cars are driven on the same route to office and back.

Is somethign wrong with my car? anything i need to get checked?

FE of my not-so-fuel efficient car

After almost 2 years I checked my car's FE last day.

Car: Fiat Palio NV 1.2 ELX
Tires: Michelin XM1 185/70 (Up-sized from stock 165s)
Engine oil: Selenia 5W-40 Synthetic Oil
Odo reading: 54,000 Kms
Model: March 2006

I filled full tank (topped up) when the odo was reading 351. Had a road trip (mostly through MC road) from Haripad to Trivandrum , breaking the journey into two parts including night stay at my parent's place.

Filled full tank again and topped up yesterday when the odo was reading 499 Kms. It took 7.85 Liters, I rounded it off to 8 Liters. There were few cold starts and short trips during this.

Speed was hovering around 80-90 Kmph during most of the highway run. Used A/c less than 20% of the time. I don't consider this as true highway run because there is no such thing in Kerala.

So my FE

(499-351)/8 = 18.5 Kmpl

Who says Palios are not fuel efficient?

When you top up, it is normally safe to assume a 1-3L difference between the last time and the current time. So if you filling in 35L, your FE can be wrong by at most 7-8%, while if you are filling in 8L, you can go as wrong as 40%.

No No No! I'm not saying your Palio won't have returned 18.5km/l, its just a thing to note while measuring FE.

.................................................. .................................................

Update on my Ritz Vdi through the first full summer season. Consistently returned 17km/l with 100% ac between Delhi-Gurgaon. Unlike previous year, it isn't returning 18+km/l.

There can be such error when you stop filling at auto-cut off, but not so when you fully top up.

In my case, I topped up both times to avoid this error. How come there is a 40% error then?

My max highway mileage ever was 19.6 kmpl - top-up to top-up after almost emptying my fuel tank which has a capacity of not 35L but 47 liters!
Currently in city, I am getting 13+ kmpl.
