I think I made an FE entry earlier in this thread. However, here is an update.

i20 Diesel, around 7000km done.

Regularly getting around 18 kmpl with about 40% city driving and 60% on roads outside the city ( to the office and back)

Did a drive to Pune last weekend, so I could test the highway FE ( though Hyd-Pune doesnt offer a lot of free, constant-speed driving, with all those trucks on the undivided road, which forces one to tag behind and overtake when its possible ).

It was a rather sedate drive to Pune, keeping the speeds between 80 and 110, exceeding 110 only in a few occasions.

Topped up the day after reaching Pune, 23.87 liters filled for 556 kms. That gave me an FE of 23.3 .

I had got a 23+ reading in an earlier long drive from Calicut to Bangalore. So I guess this is not all that difficult to get, if you drive sedately.

Filled up again after reaching back in Hyderabad - but that included around 60km of driving in Pune city, and around 20 kms in Hyd traffic. The drive back was comparatively a bit more aggressive, with speeds going up to 120 kph and more quite often, when the traffic and road permitted it.

I filled 30.65 for 601 km that gave me an FE of 19 kmpl for the return drive.

I guess the i20 Diesel's FE sweet spot is around 90 kph or so.

Hi Harry,

12.4 with Qdj is not impressive. Please recheck as I get 12 with saffire w/o AC and 11.4 with AC (average over 5K Km).

Checked the exclusive city FE of my Alto for the first time. Brimful to brimful, one month, 240.60 KM, 14.860 litres, 16.25 KMPL. Mostly two occupants, 50 - 60% AC usage, normal stop and go city traffic (not bumper to bumper). Car is used only about twice a week, and parked OTS, so there should be some allowance for evaporation loss as well?

What makes you think that there would be no fuel evaporation when on the move?

If car is used regularly the evaporation loss will be much less when compared to keeping it idle for days together and open to sky with just a cover on?

I fill the tank of my Splendor from tankful to tankful too. When I was living elsewhere and used the bike only during my weekend visits the mileage was 60 KMPL. And a tankful used to last > two months. Now that I use the bike regularly, a tankful lasts about 25 days and the FE is 63 KMPL. That got me wondering about the car as well!

Oh, and the bike is always parked in the shade, unlike the car!

With A/C 90% of the time

City 11~12Kmpl
Highway 15~16Kmpl consistent (again with A/c) Mostly NH7 (Hyd - Blr)

Honda City iDSI (Nov 2007)

City 12Kmpl with A/C always
Highway 21~22Kmpl with A/C NH7 (Hyd Blr)
