Glad to know you did the sunfilms for the summers.
Lets hope some expert throws light on my thought.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 1999 Carb ZEN, Now 78000 km old returned the following
Distance :368 km
Fuel filled : 29.5 l (Tankful- tankful)
FE: 12.54 kmpl
About 75% city ride, 25 % highway, A/C on only for about 40% of the time
TRivandrum traffic. Is this Okay for an older vehicle?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hello guys,
I am yet to understand how can one get more fuel efficiency than ARAI figures. I was under the impression that ARAI figures are under ideal conditions & hence are ideal figures.
This applies to me too. I have got around 21 (tank-to-tank method) in my i20, whereas ARAI figure for i20 is 18.xx. Any explanations?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Guys, fuel efficiency is one thing... what is the best fuel that gives the efficiency is another. I just purchased the Skoda Laura diesel... which fuel is recommended for that for best efficiency as well as engine performance - regular diesel or the XtraMile/Speed etc. variety?

The ARAI efficiency is based on a fixed set of parameters :no AC, windows closed, two persons in the car, 80%-20% city-highway split etc. This information is available on ARAI website somewhere IIRC.

It is possible to get better FE. E.g., the ARAI efficiency of the Palio Multijet is 17.XX kpl but I regularly get 19.5 - 20.5 kpl on my Palio Multijet in winter. I have even managed 22 kpl in a particular city cycle.

2002 Indica V2: City 16 Km/l, Highway ? (been too long since it went on one) with intermittent A/C

@Upgrade: From what I have noted through the cars I've had is that the % improvement could be anywhere between 10-20%
Mine Estilo is Dec 2007 and recent calculated numbers are as followed

50% AC + heavy footed, 11.XX in city and 14.XX on highway

Tried with light foot in city with 50% AC and it returned 12.6kmpl

About 2 years ago it returned 17kmpl @ <= 80km

will really impact the FE.

Example- I have my AC on level 2 and my windows rolled up/windows no film/windows open. But my AC still on level 2 and as I dont think it acts like a temprature controlled thing the FE shouldnt differ much?

I say this knowing Fiesta does not have Climate control !

BTW I get an FE of 13 in semi -city 100 % AC.
Buddy - The AC compressor would keep drawing power at a constant pace irrespective of whether you roll down the windows / have sun film etc as there is no sensor to check the ambient temperature (as in case of Climate Control).

Though I have been miffed with HMIL of late but I have to give credit to the Santro's fuel efficiency - have owned 3 of them since 2003 and have got a fuel efficiency of 15+ with AC on 100% of the time in Bangalore / Delhi.
Anticipatory driving does help a lot though.

i have a Scorpio mHawk, and have run it on both regular, regular+additive and Speed / Xtramile, personally I havent found any difference in fuel average and efficiency.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Linea MJD has clocked 7800km. It gives me 14.5~15kmpl with 100% AC in city conditions and 16kmpl agaqin with 100% AC during a round trip from Pune to Mumbai and back to Pune. This includes Mumbai traffic driving too.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

One and a half year old Dzire Diesel ZDi with consistent figures of:

City: 18-19 kmpl (30% AC)
Highway: 22-23 kmpl (50% AC)

with normal diesel and 33 psi all around.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Had to travel to my hometown and was in no hurry, so decided to extract some FE from my ANHC.

This is what I got after 60Kms of sedate driving, with 100% AC usage:

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-img_0536.jpg
What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-img_0537.jpg

Had to travel through some cities on my way, so the FE dropped for the entire trip(80% AC):

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-img_0538.jpg
What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-img_0539.jpg

I have a question for those who calculate tankful to tankful. What is your definition of tankful? The point where the fuel meter cuts off automatically? is that a reliable method? I always ask the attendant to make the amount a round figure, so haven't been able to do a tankful based calculation. Any pointers would be useful.
