13kmpl in city for a CRDi mill is bit low, be light footed / check your vehicle condition.

Hi Boss, thanks a lot for the advice. I forgot to tell my Odo reading.. My car has done 90k km now.

I will defintely get the car checked up and try to be lightfooted...
But I find it difficult to be light footed .

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Vento AT has started delivering 12 kmpl consistently after about 12,000 km run. Earlier I used to get 10 kmpl on the same run (daily commute is combination of highway and rush-hour crawl, plus monthly intercity highway run). Others with the same car are also reporting this marked increase in mileage around the same time.

Irony is that my 2006 Swift Vxi is giving about the same now (used to deliver 13+ previously). So don't even have the opportunity of saying, let's take the Swift and save some money!

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Yeti 4x4 Elegance has done 569kms on its first tank up. It is 21 days since I bought the vehicle and I filled up on the first day and never since.
Today I went and filled diesel and found it took 44 litres in.
Normal city driving, AC on all the time, music on all the time, typical horrible start stop traffic, bad roads and low gears most of the time and I have not even been switching it off at traffic lights.
This means it has returned around 13 kmpl which in my estimation is pretty good show!

This is the best you will get in this car in the city. I owned a similar car from 2003-09 and had run 82K kms and would get a similar mileage in the city. Your highway mileage is poor though. I presume you are driving at 125+ speeds. With the Accent CRDi at around 2000 rpm in overdrive gear you will hit 90 kmph and at this speed you will get 20-21 kmpl mileage. As you increase speeds you mileage will come down.

Cheers

Excellent for a 4x4. I sure you are really pleased

My Verna CRDi SX gives around 13.5 in the city.

Cheers

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My wifes spark 6k on the odo has started delivering 16+ these days. Well the A/c is only on 25% of the times. But still I think its pretty good!!

Couldn't resist replying to this post. This is one awesome figure for any petrol sedan for that matter and that too with 30% bumper to bumper traffic. Usually car dealers and manufacturers quote only the highway figures as no one can be sure of how tough the traffic condition may be for a city drive. Even Honda quotes around 15 kmpl maximum, right? Is this the best in-city figures reported on this thread by a petrol sedan? In which city were you able to obtain this? Have you calculated the highway figures?

Apart, my 2011 petrol Beat returns a wide range of FE, which is too sensitive on the driving conditions. She returned a highest of 25 kmpl on an extremely sedate highway drive. She also returned a paltry 9 kmpl an a over-revving city drive. A wide range of 9 to 25! I usually test using the low-fuel light taking consecutive averages. The normal figures till now are (of over a 20 readings for 4k kms on the odo) -

10.5 kmpl with 100% A/C in city (30% bumper to bumper).
12.5 kmpl with no A/C in the same above situation.
15 kmpl with 100% A/C on highway drives.
17 kmpl with no A/C in the same situation above.

I know this is low and the service center has flashed the ECU and I believe there is some improvement in the FE now. I am waiting for consecutive average to work out. But then, if the above poster's figures are consistent, the Honda City will always shame the Beat, at least mine.

Yes, 15kmpl is the quote from Honda. If this is the best in-city figure, I'm lucky
I live in chennai and the figures calculated for a 447km drive which coves my daily office commute from Urapakkam to Mahindra World city (50% of 447km) and twice inside the city (Tambaram-Sholinganallur-Thiruvanmiyur-Adayar-Saidapet-Koyembedu-Guindy-Tambaram)

Calculated FE by tank full to tank full method (auto cut off) in same dispenser. Yet to calculate the highway figures.

Beat has a small high revving engine, and so does my Alto K10. I have experienced same FE as you
. 9kmpl with short drives + AC (<2km between stops), clogged air filter
. 12kmpl same as above, with a couple 20-30km stints per tank
. 15kmpl without AC and 2-5km trips
. 19+ highway with AC driving between 90 and 100.

I feel that the small engine is sensitive to the driving style and gearing. With no 5th gear FE < 15. With 5th gear predominating (highway drive) FE > 19. This is contrast with the bigger engines, where the spread in FE is much less especially if you compare AC and non AC drives.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: FIAT Punto Emo pk 1.3 (Odo: 18800 km)
Run: 563 km
Fuel: 30.85 ltr
FE: 18.02
ACC: 50% of the time at 23C
Highway/City: Full city drive

With the 100% AC usage, my city runs used to return me around 16 kmpl. Since its chilly here in Pune, the AC usage has dropped and FE has shoot up.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Own a 2011 A-star with Odometer reading 4201
All FE measured in the tank-full method with AC switched on 100% of the time.
City FE - 15.4 kmpl (average variation between 14.8 and 15.8)
Highway FE - 19.9 kmpl (Measured from Hyderabad to Bidar and back)

The traffic in Greater Hyderabad is pretty decent and thus my city average is quite good. Highway mileage is quite good and I do expect more on better roads.

Thank you.
I don't think I can be light footed on the highways though. One who tasted the high revs of Honda mill cannot resist pressing the gas.

I will be on a long trip from tomorrow, will update the highway figures within a day or two.

Cheers.
