Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Alto K10 VXI done 5400 kms. Nitrogen 32 PSi. Normal petrol from same dispenser of BP Pump.
13.1 ( 80% AC, almost B2B traffic)
I drive in peak time traffic so its mostly 2nd-3rd gear driving. I do rip it when I get almost boxed in by MTC buses/ autos/ low lifes driving out-of-town Maruti Omnis.
Mileage during our Goa drive with full AC and 5 on board ripping at 120kmph gave us 17-18. So I am sure steady driving on highways will deliver better mileage.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 2 months old diesel Linea is giving me 17-18km/l under usual conditions(50%city+50%Highway) with avg speed 70-80km/h but increases to 20-22 under ideal conditions and decreases to 16-17 under not so friendly conditions.
Once I saw reading of over 23km/l (avg consumption)while traveling on long stretch of a good road.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My two year old A4 2.0Tdi gives me around 10kmpl in the city under regular traffic conditions (Not bumper to bumper traffic). On the highway it goes up to around 16 - 17kmpl .
My five year old Ford Fiesta 1.4 diesel still returns a mileage of 13-14kmpl in the city although it is used in peak hour traffic. On the highway it generally returns around 18-19kmpl and can go up to 21-22kmpl if driven at around 80-100kmph.
My one month old SX4 diesel returns 14 kmpl in the city. Still havent taken it out on the highway.

I need tips from you definitely

I managed 19 kmpl with speeds around 100 kmph on my first long drive of 430 km. I rarely get 13kmpl in city. My car has done ~1600 km in a month.

How many km has your car done?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My six year old Indigo is currently giving me an average of around 14 Kmpl. This is only in the last 4-5 topups. Earlier than that I regularly got 15-16. The fact that I am generally driving in the 100+ speed band now might have something to do with this drop.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 8.5 years old Santro Xing still manages following figures:

1. Petrol - 14+ in city (with AC 50% in mad start-stop traffic... no ring road detour); & ~19 on highways (AC 50% on NH-1 to Chandigarh... which is not in best state these days) with full load of 4 passengers (myself as driver) & light luggage; speeds 80-100.

2. CNG - 20+ in City & 27+ on highways. Driving conditions same as above (point # 1).

Here is another interesting weblink on real world mpg losers:
Real world mpg: the biggest car fuel economy losers - Real world mpg: the biggest car fuel economy losers - Feature photos - MSN Cars UK

Couple of Hyundais, but, more Fords & VW on the list .

I am happy with my car as it still performs (actual performance & mileage both) good. Also, there are only couple rattles despite the moonscape that I travel daily.

For the manual version, I have come across two persons who have only managed only 7 to 8 kmpl.As I have mentioned before I am also getting 8 at the very best.
Yes, I have multiple friends who are getting FE in this range.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 10+ yr old Santro Zip drive gives my 9km/L inside Chennai city.
A/C is always on. The heat is always killing making the A/C work harder and drink more fuel.
The traffic is maddening making the fuel consumption more.
I pay about Rs.9 for every Km I drive. That's some serious money.
On the highway i get about 15km/L.

Owning a petrol vehicle has become so difficult that too inside a big hot crowded city

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I get about 16-17 in my Punto diesel. And if I drive very sedate, I got 18 as well. Ofcourse this is possible because of not too much traffic in my area. In bumper to bumper I get about 15. (all figures are with 100% ac)

Guys,

Revelation: I did 209 km in my Linea from last and filled the tank today (14l). The actual mileaga is 14.5, where as the MID showed 12.9 for the trip. I guess MID figures can only be taken as an indication.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I drive a Fabia 1.6. The mileage is far better than what I expected
In the city I get about 12 kmpl (with A/C on most of the time)
On a nice four lane national highway, the figure rises to as much as 18 kmpl (the best I have got is 20 kmpl)
Tank to tank I get about 14 kmpl average

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

i20 CRDi Oct 2010 24000kms done:

City: 14.5 - 15.5 kmpl ( Light foot, Less braking, Bangalore peak hour stop go traffic)

Highway: 17.8 - 18.5 kmpl ( Maintaining 120-130 km/hr, Bangalore - Cochin drive )

Car driven with 100% AC,

Full tank to Full tank method used for noting the above figures.

Cheers!

I have to add, these 261Km consist plenty of 4km trips(office). One thing I found is, these short trips take a heavy toll on the mileage. By the time engine warms up properly, the trip is over.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Guys,

My Fiesta is on some kind of high. This is the latest fuel readings after I refilled today morning. Apart from the System G and normal petrol nothing else goes into the tank.
Ride: 50% city + 50% highways with AC on for 50% of the times.
Last fill: 40 lts, Kms run: 619.6 Mileage: 15.49 km/ltr

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 2012 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ A/T like others mentioned in the forum is also returning me around 7.5 to 8.0 kmpl in 90% city and 10% highway driving. And these figures are obtained with a relatively sedate driving style (not revving above 2.5k rpm). I've done 3k Kms on it until now, hoping the 1st service at 5k kms could help in increasing the figures

For now, I'm hugely disappointed by the fuel efficiency, at least expected it to return a 10kmpl in city conditions. I think the major reason why the A/T fails to return good efficiency numbers is coz of the regular/conventional 6-speed box, a dual-clutch unit like the DSG would be far more superior in terms of shift quality, timings and would be able to manage the power better in turn offering greater milage.

Regards,
