Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

The wife's 2012 i-Gen i20 (petrol) with 5.5K on the odo, driven entirely within the city and predominantly in rush hour traffic and with air conditioning at moderate blast, returned 11.07 kmpl yesterday. Used the car's MID; setting the on-board trip meter to 0 at the gas station + the tankful to tankful method. The mileage has steadily gone up from about the 9.5 mark since we bought her 4 months back. I think that's pretty acceptable.

My own 2009 Fiat Linea Emotion (petrol) clocks between 8.75 & 9.5 using the same methodology. The car's MID typically throws up a 10-20% higher reading. I drive with a relatively heavy foot and generous amounts of that are in the dreaded Mumbai traffic. Should I be content?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Ertiga VDi --> Took delivery on 11th-Aug-'12.

ODO Reading --> 1600 kms approx.

City --> 13.6 average after resetting the meter and driving within Bangalore last 3 days. Intermittent A/C usage and sedate driving - trying to follow all the "best practices" as mentioned in various forums.

My daily routine is from Bannerghatta Road (near IIM) to Ulsoor and back totaling about 25 kms. For those who know Bannerghatta Road; I am rarely able to get to 4th gear during regular office rush hours.

Highway --> 18.5 average while driving back from Hassan District (Arakalgud) to Bangalore. Did around 80-110 kmph. Only Front A/C was in use all the time. Average dropped from 19.2 as soon as I entered city roads.

Have yet to check tank-to-tank refill and observe. Above readings are from the MID provided within the vehicle. Believe that it is accurate.

I am hoping that the in-City average will move up after my first oil change at 5K.

Thanks.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have a daily run of about 78 km in Mumbai and my Polo TDi gives me an FE between 15 and 16 regularly and on good traffic days it manages to even hit 17 with the AC on. I have clear traffic for about 1/3 of my drive each way on the Eastern Expressway.

Under similar conditions, I manage 10 kmpl normally in the City ZX with the iDSi engine and the Swift 1.2 petrol..

The Polo is just over a year old and has completed 18,000 kms
The City is 6 years old and has been driven for 28500 km and the Swift is 2.5 years old but driven for just 8000 km.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

We have used 3 cars till date.
My M800 nonAC 2000 make returns 17kpl in Kolkata city traffic during office hours. Returns 23kpl on 4laned h/w & 21-22kpl on 2laned h/w (all measurements in excess of 200kms drives)
.
Father's 1993 M800 nonAC returns 14kpl in city (not Kolkata) & 18kpl on h/w.
Interestingly Father's 1969 petrol amby used to return 9kpl in city (not Kolkata) & 11kpl on h/w.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have a 75K Kms on the odo on my Dzire Vxi with the G13B engine and 185\70 R14 tires.

Here it goes :
City : Crawling traffic(Chennai) with full AC :
11 KMPL

one way crawling traffic and return without traffic with AC :
12.5 KMPL

Crawling traffic without AC what so ever:
12 KMPL

Highways : 100- 120 KMPH (Full AC with 4 on board)
15 KMPL

80-90 KMPH (Full AC with 4 on board)
17.5 KMPL

hovering around 80-90 KMPH with 50% AC when it rains or outside temp. cold :
19 KMPL (Best so far)

Spirited Driving on highways with AC ON all the time (120-140 KMPH)
13.5-14 KMPL

Without AC on highways : Haven't had the patience to do so as any speed above 60 KMPH cannot keep the windows rolled down.

Cumulative :
City with AC and Moderate traffic : 12 KMPL
Highways with AC and 100- 120 KMPH : 16 KMPL

These figures are accumulated over a period of 4 years and after innumerable tank fulls and numerous trips, single handed driving and only ASC serviced with regular intervals of 8000 kms.

Cheers,
Chaos

cheers

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 2 months old A star AT(2700 kms) gave me 20.8 kmpl on a recent highway drive, measured tankful to tankful, 100% AC. The worst highway mileage was about 18kmpl.

My city mileage hovers between 11.5kmpl to 13.5 kmpl based on driving conditions and AC usage.

I also drive an ASTAR(2.5 years old) and it also shows the same pattern as mentioned by you. Excellent mileage on the highway but hovers between 12.5 in summers with 100% AC and 14.89 Kmpl that I got in the winters with no AC. I was expecting about 15 as our city is not that congested traffic wise and I try to drive with a light foot.

May be because my trips are short i.e 3-4 Km before an hour or so of stop. How much distance do you drive in the city?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Yesterday had been to Lonavala via the old highway in my Swift ZDI.

Driving quite sedately throughout 80-100 kmph.

Rock solid - 22.7 kmpl.
