Must be MJD. Good FE with driving pleasure for a heavy car.

Ac always on

Yet to check City FE though. Hope its in the 16-18kmpl range
FE - 21.65kmpl
Not sure whether this is good or can be improved ? Other Vista owners to comment
Guys
I'm shocked with the City FE for my above vehicle. Just 12kmpl ! Checked twice now. Very disappointed . This is Chennai traffic with ac always on but still was expecting atleast 15kmpl. Highway FE was nearly 22kmpl and hence am perplexed what's going wrong.

Hello Narayan,

City Fuel efficiency of 12 kmpl is really low for a 2009 Vista. Though your highway figures of 22 kmpl were really good, city mileage is a real shocker.

I understand that you have already checked twice, but I still recommend to check once again by filling from a trusted petrol pump & stopping the fuel supply at first auto cut-off. In my opinion, you should get city mileage of atleast 14+ in city with 100% AC on. Most owners / drivers of Vista I have spoken to, report city mileage of more than 15 kmpl.

Thanks,

Hi Narayan

What is the other car you own or owned, & what were its City & Highway figures like?

Jignesh - a possibility is my Vista is driven by a driver within city. But I am quite sure hes not idling with a/c. To avoid an error, this week I plan to drive the Vista in the city and recheck the figures.

Cardeep - My other car is a i10. If I compare apples to apples, I would get about 10-11kmpl within City with about 50% a/c usage and around 18kmpl in highways with similar a/c usage.

Does this wide difference point so some driving style issue ?

Honda Jazz. It ranges from anything from 12-20 on the mood I am in. Conservative city driving I do 16-17 and conservative highway about 19. The usual city driving is around 14.

I guess you are not riding the torque, but pressing the accelerator more than what is needed in the start-stop traffic. I admit on highways this won't affect the mileage much, but, in city those short races it burns 10% more fuel. It is like being cool with the A-pedal than being hot.

Frankly, I am not surprised because even my I20 Crdi figures kind of look the same. I get about 14kmpl (in heavy traffic for half the way and moderate to light traffic the other half). In peak traffic its about 12.5kmpl. On the highways I have been able to achieve as high as 20kmpl (with moderate speeds). With very high speeds it drops to about 16-17kmpl. Also it depends on what load its carrying.
I have recently had the opportunity to drive a Ritz Vdi for a week or so and it gave about a km or so more,i.e, about 15kmpl. My fiesta 1.4TDCi also manages around the same.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: Chevrolet Beat Petrol (LT)
FE: 17.20 and 17.70 on 80% on Mum-Pune E-way and 20% in city.
A/C: 100 % times
Speed: Runs at about 100 Km/Hr at around 3000 RPM.
FE has dropped significantly in the last year. Need to have a thorough check up.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Duster is now stubbornly stuck at 17.8kmpl for Bangalore traffic post 1500kms.
Honestly, I have been ripping the engine a little more post 1500 kms. Some times pressing accelerator a little hard in 2nd or 3rd gear.

May be this is ruining the fuel efficiency.

Hyundai Accent done 90k kms.

On petrol :-

City- 8-9 km/l in Summers and around 10 in winters.

Highway- 12-13km/l in summers and around 14 in winters.

On CNG :-

City- In summers with 100% aircon On and City driving, Mostly B2B traffic 12-13 km/kg and In summers with moderate traffic, i get around 14-15 km/kg.

In winters, I am getting around 20-21 km/kg with 10% AC, Pure city driving.

Highways- In summers, Best- 31km/kg and Worst- 20 km/kg, With 100% AC on.

In winters, Best-31km/kg and Worst-23 km/kg.

All in all, CNG is worth of it, but takes away all driving pleasure and I end up spending, more on petrol then required at end of the month, Redlining is so much fun

Cheers!
