Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Maruti Zen

City: 16 KMPL W/o AC
Highways: 22 W/o AC; 20-21 With AC

Not a bad car to have when its fuel costs Rs. 71/- per litre!

Regards.

It is in the user's manual. I rechecked it today and it does say its the Average Fuel consumption over the last 30 kms. I am not sure if all manufacturers even tell this information, but please do check the manual and let us know if you can find it for your Corolla.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My current drive is Hyundai Next gen i20. I drive only in AC, whether its a city drive or a long one since it allows to maintain the fresh look inside and keeps me fresh throughout. Considering the point above, the mileage I achieve is as follows:

City drive: 16 - 18 Kmpl
Long Drive: 23 - 25 Kmpl

Slight variations can be possible depending on the conditions of the road and the traffic.

Your car runs on Petrol/Diesel?
Either way these are great figures considering the AC usage. Keep it going.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

On my all new Fiesta Automatic (2500 km run so far), in Chennai with AC on 100% have been averaging 9.8 kmpl. However on a recent drive to Bangalore from Chennai where i used Cruise control wherever i could (set at either 80 or 100), I got an astounding 16.9 KMPL. Its an accurate reading as i topped up the tank with Shell Premium just as i left Chennai and topped it up again as i entered Bangalore. Covered 335 KM and filled 19.7L. I was amazed to say the least. However, in Bangalore City in Stop Go Conditions i got a dismal 7kmpl (based on tank top up as i returned to Chennai). Mileage on my return trip was as good as the onward.

Am hoping post my First service and a little more running in, my in City mileage increases to around 11-12. Fingers crossed.

Mine drinks diesel and is manual transmission. Its now 11 months old and has covered 25K Kms. If you could drive consistently in 6th gear [during long drives in descent roads with speed >= 80<= 130 Kmph], you can get the figures nothing less than 24 kmpl with AC.

My Beemer (X1 s20D) diesel gives me 12.5 in city and 14 on highway, of course highway driving is much spirited with speeds that a BMW is known to do.

My Maruti 800 Non AC (5 gear MPFI) (40000 on the ODO) delivers 17kmpl in city (Kolkata - office hour traffic) and 23 kmpl on 4 laned h/w (tested time and again between Kolkata & Dhanbad)

Hence, the car has been retained even with a new kid on the block and rising Petrol prices.

My 2.5 month old Ritz Vdi (Diesel) (2500 on the ODO) is delivering between 15-16kmpl in city (Kolkata - office hour traffic) mostly w/o AC. Somehow, I still feel it is less. I am told by other car owners (not necessarily Ritz) that mileage should be increasing over time. In my case it has remained constant since delivery. Somebody said it is lack of "adjustment" of driving style (mainly gear shifting) from petrol to diesel car.

Need advice on:
Proper gear shift speeds / RPMs (Both up-shift & down-shift) for diesel Ritz.
Tips to get better (desired) mileage from my Ritz Vdi.

Thanks in advance.

The FE quoted by me is in Trivandrum traffic which is not really B2B as in Kolkatta. Not only that , my onward trip to Office is in a relatively free condition (0745-0815Hrs) . May be this adds 1 km to the FE. Considering this , I think your FE is reasonable. I have seen posts from people in Bangalore driving in B2B traffic quoting FE around your figures. So nothing wrong. Relax!

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

The Car - Linea Tjet+
The Age - 28 months
The Experience - 34k
The Thirst - 10 to 10.5 in Bangalore
The Juice - 9.5 to 16.5 depending on my mood !

Linea tjet is a fabulously underrated car for its mileage. The mileage is actually at your tap. Its all left to me, whether i want to get sedate or whether i am in a mood to leave everything behind

The Car - Fiat Adventure
The Age - 5 years
The Experience - 50k
The Thirst -10.5 to 11 in Bangalore
The Juice - 14 to 16 depending on the cars's mood !

Both cars run with the aircon on. I have also noted that when my wife drives, the average mileage i get is a bit higher than when i drive.

Finally, to me mileage is all in the mind. When i take the Tjet for a highway spin, all i can think of is the enjoy the ride, the handling and the power. At the end of a tankfull, i would have shelled out perhaps 700 to 1000 bucks more than working on a car to extract the mileage. But i would rather enjoy the car to the hilt than looking at the mileage to boot.
