Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My igen i20 (2012, petrol) FE figures are less enthusiastic! I get around 9-10 KMPL in city and around 14 KMPL in highways. Car has done 19,500 kms so far.
Alto 800 which is 2 months old now (4000 kms done) returns approximately 13 KMPL in city and around 18 KMPL in highways (all without AC).

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

got a 1981 VW golf 1.5 diesel from Chennai last week(around 1000km). took a detour into bangalore and had the ghats, so consider it as city+highway. very little luggage and no passengers
got an amazing 21kmpl!! my polo would only give 18kmpl with the same use
quite proud of it.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Very weird efficiency.

Ford Figo 1.2 in city with AC- 10.5-11 Kmpl
Without AC in city over 175 kms- 9.8 kmpl

This is not B2B driving at all. Just normal traffic and bit gunning the throttle.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Swift VDi (2007) - Has clocked over 150,000kms and still gives a decent 15-16kmpl in city traffic with AC. Goes upto 19 on highways.

SX4 ZDi (2011) - ODO reads 170,000+ kms and it gives 16-17kmpl in city traffic and around 18-19kmpl on highways. All with AC.

Polo TDi - Has done 53,000+ kms and gives a good 19kmpl+ in city & over 21kmpl on highways. With AC on all the time.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Skoda Fabia 1.2MPI (2008) with 58800Kms on the Odo has been returning 12kmpl consistently with 100% AC.

There haven't been many highway runs but observed to be around 15kmpl from old drives.

Brio V MT, 2012 Model.
Done 23,000 Kms.. Driven in New Delhi

Mileage in City (without AC): 13.5-14.0 kmpl.
Mileage in City (with AC): 12.0-12.5 kmpl.

Highway (with AC): 12 kmpl : This was because of driving consistently at 120+ on the Yamuna Expressway.
Otherwise have got 15-15.5 kmpl on highway (with AC).

Calculated using the tankful to tankful method.

PS: The mileage shown on the meter in my Brio has always been (Actual + 1), as per my experience over the 23,000 kms.

Hyundai i10 Sports AT, 1.2 Kappa, 2011 Model
Driven 10,000 kms in Delhi

City Mileage (without AC):10 kmpl
City Mileage (with AC):8-9 kmpl

Not tested on the highway and this is all bumper to bumper traffic.... the kinds where you spend 40 minutes to cover 4 kms.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have been using an app to keep track of my fuel efficiency for the last one year. As a practice I tank up the car at every fill up and all driving is done with 100% A/C. My usual driving pattern is one to and fro Mumbai to Pune trip per week and the rest of it in bumper to bumper Mumbai traffic.

Stats are as follows:

Car: Swift ZDi- 33,600 km till date

Best fuel efficiency: 21.25 kmpl (Obtained over a highway run of over 700 km)
Worst fuel efficiency: 14.42 kmpl (In bumper to bumper Mumbai traffic- zero highway running)

Average fuel efficiency over 18,238 km: 17.64 kmpl (12 months and 38 tank full fill ups).

Have attached a screen shot of the same.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Maiden figures for I20 Sportz Petrol.
13.3KMPL with 40-60 City Highway driving with 50% AC
20.0 KMPL on Highway. No AC at all and speed never crossed 90(taking it easy for the run in period). This was with Shell Petrol. I was pleasantly surprised at this figure i must confess as i dont hear much on FE part for the i20

When a car is decelerating in-gear, there is no fuel going to the engine (modern ECUs). When you coast with the car idling, some fuel is going to the engine to maintain that idle. Anyway there's no hard and fast rule, coasting is beneficial in some cases, like when you know you are going to slow down ahead anyway, why not coast and let the engine fall to low revs (reducing heat production and wear tear), or when on a down slope (you gain speed when coasting, but not so much in-gear). Actually my view of coasting has changed in the past few months and now I actually find it more productive than destructive. Coast Away to Glory!

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

First FE calculation for my Skoda Rapid TDI

Driving conditions: 100% within Bangalore, mostly commuting to office and back home, in bumper to bumper traffic. Climate control set to 23 deg C.

Fuel and method: Shell Diesel, top-up to top-up
Distance covered: 298.5 KMs
Fuel Used: 25.5 L
FE: 11.71 KM/L
FE shown in MID: 13.1 KM/L

Hoping to see better figures after run in is complete.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I'd posted here a couple years ago, so time for an update:

Car: 2006 Accent 1.5P, 72k on the ODO.
City: 9-11 kmpl (based on traffic)
Highway: 15-16 kmpl

I never drive without the AC (blame the horrible ambient air in Bangalore).

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Current reading on the tripmeter- 18.6kmpl

Mostly the trip readings are very close to the actual tankful figures.

2230 kms, only in the city but can be considered as city drive 50% and highway 50% as I travel to office by 5pm and back home by 3am. Average speed of 32 kmph.
