Ford Figo 1.4 Fuel Efficiency

Recently I changed from filling at an HP Bunk to Shell, here are the stats.

Car Make: Ford Figon TDCI 1.4 (2013) Titanium
Type of Driving: 100% City (with a 70% split in B2B and 30% in normal traffic), 80% AC, 90% time a single occupant (me)
Fuel Efficiency: 18.5 kmpl (tankful method)

This is probably the highest I have got in the city.

EDIT:
@mpksuhas
My earlier mileage used to be in the 16-17 range.
I was able to touch 790kms, while earlier it was mostly 700 kms in a tankful.

Can you please let know what was the average you were receiving earlier.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Recently I noticed a drop in fuel efficiency figure as per MID in my Dzire ZDi. I dont know if this is an illusion.. or if my driving style has changed or if within the past one month traffic in kolkata has increased....

Possible reason..

1. clutch related or
2. Ac related or
3. Some other reason.

Further, recently i also noticed that while switching on ac the engine goes heavy and there a mild decrease in power however enough to feel the drop. I am not sure but doesn't the new generation diesel engines automatically adjusts the rpm when ac is switched on? Atleast I expected this from a ddis or the crdi engines..May be this drop in power was already there but I was too fascinated by the ddis to notice the same.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

The drop of power on switching on the A/c is inevitable on any car. If someone claims that A/c does not affect a particular car, that person has not driven it enough. My Optra's 2L diesel also gets more than mildly hit by the A/c though it might still be faster than most!

Also, the Crdi engines normally do not increase RPM unlike low displacement petrol counterparts to compensate for A/c load since their low end is strong enough to take that load, probably by consuming some more fuel.

If your car is not too old, A/c trouble should not be expected.

Fuel consumed: 40.64 Litres
FE: 17.62 Kmpl
FE shown on MID: 19.8 Kmpl - Thats about 12% deviation from the actual FE. Does anyone else see this much difference in the figures shown in MID?
Even I checked the MID which showed avg of 18.1kmpl, however when I calculated tankfull to tankfull the average came out to be 16.7 apprx. So I think deviations are always there but the variance differs. There may be various external factors which affect the FE which might not be considered into calculation done by the the ecu.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Make : Ford
Vehicle : Ecosport TDCI Titanium
MY : 2014
Kms covered so far : 14550

Driving in highway
90 ~ 100 = 19.22 kmpl
100~ 120 = 17.5 Kmpl
120~140 = 14.0 Kmpl

All with 100 % AC with light footed.

When doing bursts, i can easily see that the mileage drops a lot like around 10 to 11 kmpl

Difference between MID and manual calculations is very similar, in fact MID is not showing anything more than actual.

Yeti 4x4,Elegance - 2013 model, run about 12k. In Highway (high speeds), delivers 15-16 kmpl; in city (mixed conditions), delivers 11 to 12 kmpl. 100% AC.

Anyways after 200kms of highway driving and some rural town traffic, the MID settled at 19.5kmpl, which is again incredible, after being used to my SX4's max mileage of 14.5 in the same areas.

Don't trust the FE shown by MID. I own a DZire VXi from January 2013 and from what I have experienced, the MID is a bit too optimistic. The average efficiency meter on my car is presently at 17.8 KMPL while I am consistently getting FE around 15 KMPL (it has never crossed 16 KMPL) by tankful to tankful method.

As I told, even if there is a 2kmpl difference, ie getting 20 when it shows 22 is too good for a car of that segment. Now, the car shows 19.5kmpl consistently. So if it is returning 17+ before even running in completely, its still a good thing IMO after getting used to an FE of 10-14kmpl in my SX4, that said there is no match between the kind of tractability the latter gives due to the torque.

My 4 months old i20's FE has been decreasing refill after refill. It started from 11 went down to 10.4 and is now at 9.8. This engine is probably the only sore point about this car.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Though my vehicle is equipped with CNG, I do use petrol for nearly 20 percent of city driving and 80 percent highway drives.

Car: Honda City ZX EXI 2006
Odo: 78,500 km.
Fuel Used: Shell Regular (in Pune City) and HP Premium (Power) on expressway

City: 13 kpl.
Highway: 17.5 kpl

Averaged over 5 fills of around 2.5K to 3K each. AC always ON. 2 people for city drives and 4 on highways. Rarely exceed 3K rpm, actually pointless on my vehicle.

CNG efficiency is a good 22kpg on highways and 19kpg in city.
