Distance: 641km
Fuel filled: 39.1 liters

I expect actual tankfull mileage to more or less match the MID result. I hope it improves further after engine run-in.

Avg Mileage: 18.7 kmpl
Avg speed: 28kmph

All running in city with 30% slow traffic, 70% cruising speeds.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Being an Indian this "kitna deti hai" thought is always lurking at the back of our minds.

Tata Safari Storme 2014 (4x2)
Avg of 12.5kmpl (mixed drive of city to highway of 70-30) (AC 100% ON)

VW Vento TDI 2013

Avg of 15 kmpl (mixed drive of city to highway of 85-15) (AC 100% ON)

Mahindra Xylo 2011
Avg of 14 kmpl (mixed drive of city to highway of 50-50) (AC 100% ON)

Chevrolet Beat TDCI 2012

Avg of 18 kmpl (mixed drive of city to highway of 50-50) (AC 100% ON)

All my cars are running an average of 600 kms per week.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2009 Maruti Suzuki SX4 VXi Petrol

Current ODO reading: 42000 kms

City Driving
Heavy traffic - 11 - 11.5 kmpl with 100% AC.
Average - 12 kmpl in Pune with 90-100% AC.

Highway Driving
Did a Pune-Goa-Pune trip recently. 1100 kms. I got a kpl of 14.5 (80% AC usage)

I do Pune-Mumbai quite often, every alternate weekend sorts.
Drive around 100kmph, 14.5-15 kmpl on the expressway (100% AC usage)
Drive fast 120+ kmph, 13-13.5 kmpl (100% AC usage)

Average kmpl on highways - 13.5 to 15kmpl (With AC)

Note: The difference with or without AC is not much. +/- 0.5 kmpl

Wow, people are getting some terrific fuel efficiency figures here. My week old Fluidic Verna 2014 1.6 SX CRDi gives me just

12.5 Kmpl (100% AC, heavy Blore traffic)

Not had a chance to take it on a long drive yet.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My Laura 1.8 TSI returned 21 KMPL averaging at 110 KM/H on the highway.

That is some terrific mileage for this beast.

:O
Unbelievable, even most diesel cars will not be able to match this.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2010 Ford Figo DuraTec M/T

We bought it second hand in 2013.

Odometer reading: 44,500kms

City usage, 80% AC

Fuel efficieny: 7-8 Kmpl

Anyone else getting such low FE?
Is it possible that the fuel efficiency suffers because of a possible abuse to the car and bad driving by the previous owner?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Nissan Sunny XL dCi:

Odometer reading : 37500 km

Drove to Chennai 3 days back. Returned today. Here is the FE:

Highway driving: 290 kms and Fe was 22.1 kmpl
City driving : 59 kms and Fe was 18.3 kmpl

Luckily Chennai traffic was much lower than usual in the roads at which I had travelled.

Thanks,

Achyuth

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Changed my fuel filling habit in my Swift Petrol; earlier I was filling and calculating FE from reserve-to-reserve (low fuel warning lamp). Now I fill when fuel indicator is at second positional line (almost 25% fuel left in tank). And the result? With a 75% highway, 25% with AC routine, now I get an FE of around 21 - 22 KMPL, compared to the earlier figures of 18 - 19!

Other factors that could have affected the FE:

1. Car completed 20K on odo
2. ECU update for resolving the poor braking.

interesting. So early fueling can help in getting better FE? Possibly due to car completing 20K and engine opening up.

By the way how accurate are analog fuel gauges in cars, say 25% indication on fuel gauge always corresponds to X liters of fuel?
