Traffic.
Highways I get 10-14.
Spirited driving will give 5 or so right now.
Post 5k Kms it "should" give 9 under hard throttle.

Ford fiesta 1.4 tdci

305 km, 2 lane highways, moderate traffic, brisk driving @ <100 kmph, 50% AC, 3+Driver.

21.97 kmpl.

Ford ecosport 1.5 tdci

510 km, 2 lane(320 km, moderate traffic) + 4 lane(free), 70-90 kmph, 50% AC, 2+Driver.

21.6 kmpl.

FIAT Punto 90hp.

Just completed a 1512 kms road trip over the weekend from Bangalore to Trivandrum and back.

With a 65 kmph average speed and 100 kmph cruising speed- ended up with an FE of 21 kmpl.

Distance travelled : 333.5km
Fuel : 21.30 L (diesel)
Terrain 90% city, though not B to B
A/C : 50%
FE:15.65 KMPL

What a fall from the majestic 18 and 17KMPL Levels.
May be due to the fact that in narrow TVM roads, in
most of the places, unable to go to even beyond 3rd gear,
very occassonal 4th gear stretches!

2014 Hyundai Verna CRDi

Just back from a 625 km round trip to Madikeri.

Cruised at 100 kmph throughout. Delivered a stunning mileage of 21.3 kmpl with AC 75% of the time.

Safari Storme VX 2014.

Hard driving with 3500+ rpm in 5th gear. 10kmpl
Moderate/average driving. 2500rpm to 3000rpm in 5th gear. 11kmpl
Economy drive 1500-1700rpm in 5th gear. 14-15 kmpl
Average highway driving 12-13kmpl
Average city driving 10.7 kmpl

So final average is between 10-13 kmpl no matter what, all with 100% AC on and method to check is tank full to tank full, auto cut off.

I know you guys will not believe it. This is my Verna 1.6 SX VTVT when it was just 6-7 months old. Had done only close to 7K kms. This was on Chandigarh-Delhi highway.

Driven by my wifey atc onstant 80-100, unlike me racing.

FE : 16.37 km/l
Traffic density : 80% on moderate/heavy city traffic and 20% on ghats with 4 passengers+driver
AC : On for 80% of the time
Method : Tankful to tankful

Average reading on the MID should be off by at least 10% I guess. Here is mine on a Vento TDi doing a sedate drive. Many would like to call it hyper-miling though.
