Just back from a 1030 km (Hyderabad-Annavaram-Eluru-Vijayawada-Hyd) trip. FE for the first tankful was 19.1, and 18.x for the second one. This was with full AC on and cruising at 90-100 kmph; four adult passengers and some luggage in the boot.

Update- current odo 4.8k kms.

On my last month's ride to IBW @ Goa, it surprised me with figures closed to 27km/l. I was riding solo (not in HOG pack) so I had no rush to reach or ride fast- maintained steady 90-100 km/h

My 2nd service still due, I'm planning to give it for next week. I believe it may get improved 1 or 2. Existing Elite i20 1.2 owners, Please comment.
I also do own an elite i20 asta petrol which has clocked around 30k kms.
My mileage (before 30k service) in city with ac running used to hover around 10-11 and in highways around 13. I managed to squeeze 14 once.

After 30k service when i used synthetic engine oil, I saw a slight surge in the mileage where i get around 12 in cities and 14 is achieved easily on highways.
I would suggest you to top up your car with synthetic oil, although pricey, it will help in fuel efficiency and add a bit of life to the otherwise dull engine.

I personally don't like the engine much as it is neither able to deliver performance nor the efficiency.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hi Piyush, It's really true what you said about the engine. Is it advisable to get into Synthetic oil this much early? (say 10K service).

I see lots of petrol I20 now-a-days irrespective it's very sluggish.

Hello Jebs,
I am a noob when it comes about technical tit-bits and really cannot comment on when to get into synthetic oil. My apologies for it. I would suggest you to put up a query in the mineral vs synthetic oil thread where experts will be able to help you in this regard.
I got synthetic oil top up after reading its benefits in the forum and didn't really know that one should monitor when to get it. . But personally i am happy that i went for it as the engine has improved a bit if not drastically and will continue with it.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Volvo V40 Cross Country T4 (Polestar remapped to 200bhp)

The engine is a 1.6L direct inject turbo petrol with a 6 speed DCT

In city : 8.5-9.5 km/l
Highway : 10-11 km/l when driven sanely
6-7 km/l pedal to the metal

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Fluidic Verna 1.6 CRDI, 2011. B2B city - 12 kmpl, highway@ 80 kmph -22 kmph, @ 100 kmph - 19-20 kmpl & @ 120 kmph - 17-18 kmpl. AC always on & 3 people on board with medium luggage. After upgrading to 205/55/R16 tyres (Yoko v 550), there has been approximately 1 kmpl reduction in FE. Car has now done 67k.
S cross 1.3 owners are reporting fantastic FE. I don't find any reporting by 1.6 S Cross owners. With higher turbo lag in 1.6, I guess FE is much lower than 1.3 in City. Can 1.6 S Cross owners update the FE that they are getting plz.

My car never ceases to surprise me. It's been about 13 months of blissful driving and on my last 2 highway trips it's given very good numbers

TRIP 1: Bangalore to Pondicherry via Salem - - kallakurichi - - cuddalore. There car was loaded to the point that all seats were down and there was luggage on the front passenger seat and in the foot well of the front passenger seat as well. Solo driver with luggage. Mileage returned 15kmpl using full tank to full tank and on MID it showed 15.6kmpl. I was doing speeds of over 120 kmph

TRIP 2: light luggage 346 km trip on brilliant highways. But maximum speed was 110 kmph and average speed as per MID for the trip 79.8 kmph. Mileage returned 16.9 kmpl as per MID. Will do a tank to tank calculation when I fill up next.

Car in question : BMW X1 DIESEL

I'm guessing this is with some sedate driving and no revving given a chance. Also are the roads free compared to Bangalore,?

I never thought a Ford Petrol can give such figures with AC in city.
The max I managed in city with part AC was 11 something and it was just once.

Point to note is the aftermarket exhaust and my tendency to floor the pedal on an empty stretch.

You are absolutely right in guessing my driving style. The traffic is comparatively lower here at Asansol than that of Bangalore.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hi guys,

I'm new to this thread. So I own a Swift petrol and a Fiesta Classic Diesel.
Swift 1.3 G13B series
City - 13-14 kmpl
Highway - 15-17 kmpl

There was a time when I drove it single handed and it returned about 15-16 in city and close to 18 on highway runs. Now it is driven by my dad who forgets to change gears and my wife who takes it to Hinjewadi to her office. Pretty acceptable figures though.

Fiesta Classic 1.4 TDCI
City - 16-17 kmpl
Highway - 19-20 kmpl

This car is 95% driven by me. Rare occasion that my wife picks this up.

All figures mentioned are 100% with AC. Calculated using the tankful to tankful method.

Total kms done=1000 in 15 days.
City : Highway= 25:75 with 90% AC on.
Driving style= Mostly Sedate with occasional sprints.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Vehicle: Toyota Vitz | 2010 | 1300cc
Odo: ~38600
Method: tankful (octane)
City/Highway: 90/10
FE: 6.7 km/l (without AC) | 5.5 km/l (with AC)

I am very novice about car. I expected more FE according to the opinion of others when I bought this Japan used car six months back. Though we have very heavy traffic here in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In the evening from my office to home it takes more than 2 hours to travel 12 km. Someone has suggested me to check wheel alignment and check the engine. Should I?
