Did one more same day round trip to Belgaum with some SH driving to outskirts. Door to Door 1205 kms. Left Blore at 3 am in the morning, returned at 12 in the night. Cruised at 110 with short bursts of 120 on the empty stretches.

Consumed 60L of diesel. MID showed 19.7 kmpl.

Car: 2015 Verna CRDi SX
Current Odo: 74,258 kms

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

In the W222 S350CDI I get exceptionally good fuel effeciency. Did a Mumbai - Lonaval trip recently which is about 85kms one way. Started from Mumbai with a full tank - 70ltrs, and door to door the fuel indicator only went from 100% to 95%. Taking into account that the indicator only depletes in multiples of 5 (i.e. 95%, 90%, 85% and so on), lets for arguments sake say it used 7% of fuel since the indicator wont go lower till it has used 10%. That gives it roughly 17kmpl which is exceptional for a 3 litre V6 engine!

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have recently started tracking my car's fuel efficiency and I am surprised to find out that my 6 year petrol i20 is consistently returning 12.9 to 13 KMPL with AC on 90% of the times. I have driving very sedately of late.

Method used: Tank full

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hey friends,

Tracking the fuel economy of my recently acquired Honda City i-Vtec Sept 2010 model, methodology being tank-full to tank-full.

In city: 11.45 kmpl (sedately driven, A/C on always)
In city: 9.75 kmpl (aggressively driven, A/C on always)

On the highway: 16.25 (sedately driven, around 100 kmph, A/C on always)
On the highway: 13.75 (aggressively driven, above 120 kmph, A/C on always)

Overall, i see a 15% reduction in mileage given a heavier right foot.

Also, note that :
(1) Fuel has always been filled from the same Shell petrol bunk
(2) Tyre pressure has been regularly monitored to ensure a standardized mileage reading.
(3) The numbers above have been averaged out over a period of 6 months (Dec. 2016 to May 2017, 14 full tank refills).

I find these numbers to be higher than my 1.3 ltr Hyundai Getz (sold off in Oct. 2016, Chennai), where the fuel economy bordered close to 10 for in city driving and around 14 on the highways.

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have a 2008 Swift DeZire ZXi
My average is around 9 with aggressive driving and 10.5 with the usual driving using the tank full method. Now I'm not too sure if this can be trusted cause there's always petrol left and I've never in my life seen the red light of the indicator.
Drives are in Mumbai, peak hours, AC always on 21 in the day 23 at night. Driving is with a heavy foot always the aggressive is high revving and the usual is also with a heavy foot only usual gear shifts with no high revving. If that makes any sense
Is this efficiency decent? Inputs will help.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I own a black Tuv300 AMT model, it gives 10 KMPL in city driving with full AC.

I have a 2010 Ritz ZXi

It gives a little over 13 kmpl with AC using the tankful method. I use it mostly for my daily office-travel that involves 70% highway and 30% city travel.

I'm a sedate driver and rarely cross 80-90 km/hr even on highways.

Since your usage is mainly on highways and assuming that the rest 30% city usage involves moderate traffic, shouldn't you be getting a bit more mileage?

Of course, there are a lot of other factors involved, like the total distance covered, type of tyres, load, service intervals etc. But 13kmpl in your case appears to be a tad less.

True that. Especially since I plan my 18 km office-commute during the non-peak hours - around 7.30 am in the morning and 4.00 pm while returning.

Total distance/day: 36 kms
Tyres: Michelin XM2, 185/70 R14 (no upsizing done)
Service intervals: Serviced every 6-7k kms since last 4 years

One reason could be due to the fact that mine is a pre-facelift 2010 edition, which apparently was tuned for better torque-delivery.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Tried to compare the FE shown in the MID with the one calculated by tank full to tank full method for the first time after 31k kms.

Car: Fiat Punto Evo MJD
Distance: 581.3 km
Usage: 100% City; 100% AC at 24 deg
FE - MID: 14.2 kpl
FE - Tank full: 15.1 kpl

Must say I'm pleasantly surprised with this result.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I have been tracking the fuel expenses of my 6 year old Vento TDI using the tank full method. Given that I live in the traffic hell called Bangalore, have fatter tyres, a dieseltronic kit and the urge to push the car now and then, must say I get a pretty decent mileage. My highway to city ratio is approx 45:55. Here are the statistics for the last 2 years.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Ok, so funny story. My brother in law and me were doing a highway drive and decided to check how much efficiently we could push from my 12k km old swift. We reset the fuel efficiency display and over the next 100km of very careful driving exceeded the 24kmpl. Seems amazing considering that a 16.7kmpl is what i normally get.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Tata Zest XMS RT90 petrol (2015)
62,834 kms

City milage (sedate driving with sports mode for better throttle response at lower rpm) air-conditioning on all the time : 12kmpl

Highway milage ( non peak hours in city included ) with sedate driving on sports mode and air-conditioning on all the time : 17 kmpl

With my dad behind the wheel, the city milage drops to 10.5 to 11 kmpl and highway milage drops to 14.5-15 kmpl
