I was expecting worser mileage, based on the inputs from my cousin who has the 2015 XUV500 W10 Manual (around 10 - 11 kmpl), and somehow i manage to extract more from the AWD AT version.

In my experience with multiple vehicles, Automatics with medium displacement engines 2 Lit to 3 Lit give better efficiency than their manual counterparts on the highways. In city the efficiency is slightly lower though. If you observe the xuv At shifts to 6th at 80 dropping rpm to 1350, most of us are not going to do that in a manual.

The thermostat cuts of the compressor to keep the evaporator coil free from ice, if there is no cutoff the condensate will freeze and form an ice layer on the coil.
The set temperature is maintained by mixing hot and cold air.


If a car AC compressor cuts off too often, you will have moisture settling on the the glass and misting it over when ambient temperature is colder than your set temperature, this often happens with older cars, and even some lower versions of modern cars.


For best efficiency set thermostat at lowest and manually switch off the compressor switch intermittently.
