Same is the case with our 2018 Wagonr, which has done 9k kms till date. Our other car, Stingray, which has done 66k till date, gives around 16 to 17 kmpl in city and more than 20 kmpl in highways when driven sedately.

Our Wagonr constantly gave 13kmpl to 14 kmpl when driven in city. Speed ranges from 45 to 60, with some slowdowns. What worries me a lot is our Wagonr once gave only 12.94 kmpl in highway even when driven sedately, with speeds not crossing 90 kmph.

Try resetting the ECU. I tried ECU reset twice. First time, reset was done without cleaning the air filter and second time, after cleaning the air filter. After cleaning the air filter and ECU reset, I drove the car sedately for about 30 kms. And now, I'm getting slightly better fuel efficiency in city. I've not yet driven the car in highway after the ECU reset. We'll be doing 150 kms highway trip in the coming days. I'll come up with an update after that.

Isn't Stingray mechanically the same car as Wagon R?

Yes, both the Wagonr and the Stingray have the same engine specifications.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

For both cars, the measurements were taken using tankful-to-tankful method. AC is on 100% of the time, and we (my family and I) always stick to speed limits. We're all sedate drivers.

Honda City idtec:
  • City: 17.5 kmpl in moderate to heavy traffic.
  • Highway: 21.5 kmpl
It's slightly lower than what it used to be; but atleast those readings are consistent. I haven't gone for highway drives recently, but I'm pretty sure it used to give atleast 23 kmpl when it was newish.

Mercedes E250 CDI
  • City: 7.5 to 9 kmpl
  • Highway: 12 to 14 kmpl
Considering it's a big 2.1 liter diesel behemoth pulling a large heavy car, I'm more than happy.

Here's a bonus pic from the Benz MID after a drive with an extremely light foot :

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: Maruti Ertiga 2012
Engine: 1.3L DDiS
Odometer: 46000km
Mileage delivered is around 19-20kmpl when driven moderately at a speed of 80-90km/h with A/C on. Whereas in the city it returns a mileage of 15-17kmpl with A/C on. After changing the stock tyres which were MRF ZVTV’s to Continental MC5’s at 40000kms, I noticed a slight improvement in fuel efficiency as well. This car is a comfortable highway cruiser which returns great mileage indeed.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Here I go,

2018 GT 1.5 TDI
Odometre: 13k
Mileage(T2T): 18.6KM/L
Mileage(MID): 16.7 - 23.5KM/L :- fairly inaccurate by ~1-2KM/L
Speeds: 40-70KM/L (~50@4th / 60-70@5th)
Driving conditions: Neither city nor highways, just the undulating back roads i.e only small amounts of traffic but lots of tight corners , inclines and declines along with the occasional junction. Air con turned on around 60% of the time. 195/55/R16 Apollo Alnac 4Gs @ 36psi front / 33psi rear. Usually 1 person inside but up to 5 at times. Stock everything. Hoon at the wheel.

Earlier, I have gotten upto ~22KM/L tankfull to tankfull on the same routes during the break in period when I was babying the engine. The air con gives you a penalty of 2-3KM/L but the major variation is dependant on the way you drive. For example , I was once able to get a consistent 27+KM/L on the MID during a 50KM drive with no air con and 3 people onboard, this was on highway-ish roads holding a steady 50KM/H in 5th gear lugging the motor at around 1000 rpm. On the other hand I've pulled the MID down to 9.8KM/L on the usual back roads with my foot to the floor shifting redline to redline(air con on and 2 passengers onboard) no traffic or anything.

Exactly same here for my 2010 Civic AT in Bangalore. Best figure in city driving has been only 8 with very light foot and empty roads.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2012 Nissan Sunny Diesel
Odometer: 82,000 kms
Mileage (MID): 17.5 km/l
Mileage (tankful): 16.8 km/l

I've been driving this car since a week now. Covered roughly 550 kms in these 7 days, 80% city traffic with light foot, moderate traffic, rest on open roads. Mileage figures are without AC (AC doesn't work )

2012 Volkswagen Vento Diesel 1.6 TDI
Odometer: 1,65,000 kms
Mileage city (MID): 24.5 kmpl
Mileage city (tank full): 19 kmpl
Mileage highway (tank full): 20.5 kmpl

My daily commute is approx 80 kms. And the car has been giving me consistent mileage in the range of 18 kmpl or whereabouts. Drive consists of 80% city road and 20% highway. I have not observed much difference with ac on( @ 25 C) or off in Delhi winters.
This is a "non diesel gate fix" 1.6 TDI engine.

So little difference between city and highway figures? Also, MID error is huge.

.
Misery loves company, I thought only TATA has unreasonably large difference between MID and T2T. Feels kind of good that I have company

Checked my long term average over 2000KM it is 15.5 and ever since I got the car (8850KM) it is 15.81 (City/highway, 80/20).
