Petrol car giving 21 kmpl in city traffic? Isn't that unbelievably good? Current gen city gives about 13 kmpl, which itself is considered good for a c segment sedan. What's the rated FE of your car?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Okay so i have continental GT and it has a 12.5 litres tank capacity, the fuel gauge is very inaccurate and unreliable. After only 140 kms it starts showing low fuel which is not the case.

I use fuelio app to calculate the fuel economy and keep records, one thing which confuses me is that if we stop when it auto cuts how much fuel gets filled in the tank? Is it full tank? Or to get full tank we have fill till the brim?

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Hyundai Elite i20 VTVT 2017
Pune - Udaipur - Pune

I think this is the best way to summarize the FE for this trip
Gujrat Highway - 17.2 kmpl
Non-GJ highway - 14.65 kmpl

Not only did the GJ highway gave me the best mileage, Here I could also manage the best avg speed of the trip at roughly 75 kmph. And the icing on the cake? Petrol is cheaper by 8 rupees, so I refilled at 72 rupees per litre.
Pure bliss.

My month old 10th gen Civic V-CVT returns me 506km for 40 litres of petrol which calculates to 12.65 kmpl.

Pretty good for a 1.8l petrol motor i believe.

Are you sure it is 12.5 liters and not 12.5 gallons? 12.5L is the capacity of a motorcycle fuel tank.

Normally at autocut there is enough space in the tank to take care of "breathing" as well as space for the fuel to slosh around without spilling out.

I have noted that the fuel tank and low fuel is more or less constant in most sedans
. Tank capacity = 550km at cruising speed
. Reserve = 40-50 km

Yes, if it's in city use.

Wow!!! That's awesome for a 1.8L petrol motor in city traffic.

Thanks to the holiday season, office commute has been a breeze these couple of weeks. I achieved my best numbers till date for pure city usage(bangalore). 8 months & 8500kms new Jazz VX CVT.

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-img_20200101_111846.jpg

P.S: Usually the error is between 0.5-1kmpl. So effectively should be around ~14kmpl T2T. Occupancy is usually 2 people.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 2016 Honda Jazz VX MT gives me 12-13kmpl in city traffic (roads are pretty bad in hyderabad where I live). On highways, I get around 16-17kmpl. I have a light foot, and expected better mileage from Honda.
