Looking at all your 15-20kmpl makes me feel like buying a bike.
My 1.8liter Nissan Pulsar gives about 400 kilometers to a 47 liter tank, and this is a 50%:50% mix of city and freeway driving. So that’s about 8kmpl, maybe half of what an average Indian car gives.
Today I drove a V8 Holden and the owner said he gets about 2.5-3kmpl. I happy I own a strait-4!

You mean your Verna is more FE than your Swift ? Are you sure ?

Naah. For mere 80-100 kmph runs on the highways, we would use the petrol M800, which would be up there with the Verna in FE.

We would rather cruise along at 140kmph or more, and still get 16kmpl or more in petrol cars comparable to Verna. But then it would be suicidal on a Verna at those speeds, right ?

NHC:
I get average of 12.5 to 14 kmpl in City+Highway. This is with AC 100%, and I try to avoid traffic by leaving early before peak hour starts. Also change gears at roughly 2000 to 2250 rpm, in order to get better mileage. Never revv the engine unnecessarily, and never ever redlined.

I am yet to take it on the long highway drive. I think it should give close to 15-16 kmpl there.. Will try and update..

Interesting thing I remembered with reference to fuel efficiency. In one of the Auto shows, Hormarz mentioned that the Battle tank in the Indian army gives an average of One kilometer for 8 litres of petrol . A dent free experience at a price. Any takers ?
