According to media reports, Mahindra is all set to introduce a new 'S5' trim of the Scorpio Classic. It will be positioned between the base 'S' and top-spec 'S11' variants. Dispatches of the S5 variant have already commenced, however, Mahindra is yet to announce the pricing.

The Scorpio S5 comes equipped with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, black ORVMs and roof rails. The SUV gets body-coloured bumpers, body claddings and side steps.

Like the base variant, the S5 trim is also sparsely equipped. It doesn't get a touchscreen infotainment system and even misses out on features like automatic climate control and steering-mounted controls. Instead, the SUV gets manual AC with rear AC vents and side-facing bench seats in the third row.

Powering the Scorpio Classic S5 is a 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes 130 BHP and 300 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, which drives the rear axle.

Don't know what Mahindra is thinking, in my opinion it's time to stop producing Scoripo where the same silhouette is used for more than 2 decades.

They should have launched the S7 rather than the S5 as this is still bare bones and offers no value proposition other than central locking and alloys which is missing in the base variant.Saw a detailed video of the car on Youtube and felt that they could have at least added that signature Scorpio seat armrest.
In the BS4 era Mahindra had launched the XUV 500 W3 base model with more features and projector headlamps and priced it in the 11.XX lakh range, don’t know why they always price the Scorpio base variant higher and strip it of even the bare minimum features but then there’s also a cult following for this car in many semi urban/rural areas where they truly use it for its intended workhorse purposes.

No touchscreen music system is acceptable. But no music system is not acceptable! Not even a basic one? how is this barebones variant a mid variant? this is just S2 - on a scale of S to S11.

I was so much waiting for the S5 version with a hope of seeing atleast a basic music system and a driver adjustable seat. Mahindra had different plans!

This variant doesn't make any sense and since it is S5, will surely be priced above the S. Such a waste of time and effort!
