Beat this-maruti 800 safer than a mercedes

A long article so cant post the entire thing here but here's what the MD of maruti has to say with regards to the safety of the maruti 800 and the maruti van.The article also talks about the turnaround of maruti udyog Ltd.

Quote:
You said that road safety is an important part of your strategy but as an observer, one finds that Maruti 800 and Omni are probably two of the most unsafe cars with almost no safety features.
This is the difference between perception and reality. No car can run on the roads unless it meets the safety norms. Maruti 800, according to people who have studied, it is as safe as a Mercedes, if not safer. Some people said if Princess Diana was in an 800, she might have been saved.

And what if she was in an Omni van?
Same with the Omni.

Rahul,

I read that too. And its amazing to say that the Omni is as safe as a Mercedes Benz. And look at that foolish statement - Princess in the 800 might have survived !! i mean does he even know what speeds the car in which the Princess was , was doing ?

Grow up Mr J Khattar.

Grow up Mr J Khattar.

arre that's the point NC. she was in a merc and the car was doing those speeds. If it was the 800 it would have never reached those speeds.

Besides, I think he is on some medication or is smoking some stuff for sure.

Joke of the year!
Imagine an Omni crashing at 200 kmph (If it can somehow take those speeds). M800 is a good car, but safety is not its strong point.

I'm not sure where did the FIAT UNO come from, as far as I can remember the car hit a pillar and a wall inside a tunnel.

Stay on the topic fellows. This is about 800/Omni v/s the Mercs. The 800/Omni combo will fight FIAT after its defeated the Mercs.

A Fiat Uno gave the car a nudge before it hit the pillar.

That is all speculation,no one except a few close people know the truth. But she died mainly because she was not wearing the seatbelt, the bodyguard in the front seat was wearing one and was saved.

on second thoughts.....whoever said this must be a genius........If Princess had been in a M800, that would have fooled the Paparazzi, none of them would have followed, and the accident wouldn't have happened. So the Princess would be saved

Undoubtedly. Saved for a more extensive post-mortem.
