Shorter distances, lower average speeds, replacement for diesel (torque for those narrow overtakes and low cost of running), automatic, never 30kms away from a charger and the fact that vast majority ( I Would guess 95+% of car owners ) have standalone houses with a garage/porch/car shed.

Everything good for EV adoption.

I care a lot about low NVH/silent cabin too, but it is a given thing for any EV I believe. So, Tata cars were obviously high on the list. I rejected Nexon EV because it's floor felt too raised to accommodate battery in an ICE platform which resulted in low seat height and compromised thigh support (somewhat like typical 3rd row seats). Punch EV was their first car on ev platform, but it was too small for rear passengers and interior felt not so good unlike Nexon. Therefore, I decided to rather wait till festive season, by when more launches are expected, including more cars based on Tata's ev platform. Looks like the decision was good because Curvv seems like hell of a car at this price point, it fits my bill very well. It is filled to the brim with features (you name it and it has it! How nicely and reliably they work is to be seen though). It should be a much better option as compared to existing Nexon EV, especially if price difference is not much. I am excited to own one, and don't feel like waiting further for other options that different auto makes are bound to offer in due course of time. I do have some concerns though about Tata's fit and finish, quality and reliability, service. But I guess I am ready to take that risk and hope for the best. Won't mind if it means some niggles here and there occasionally, which get resolved without much trouble. But if it turns out to be something nagging, recurring and irritating over long run, then obviously it is going to be a bad choice.
In the exact same boat as you with the same thought process.
Hoping for the best.
Curvv is a perfect balance of power, size, looks.
Given the leaks, the features are loaded - not sure how are they gonna differentiate harrier ev now (except awd)
Small niggles would be fine but any major issue like HVC will totally disappoint

Nothing much contrasting reply. He hopes that with EV exclusive workshops the ICE workshops will be less burdened and service quality improves.

I put forward the question to the service advisor here and he said opening exclusive EV workshops will not be viable till couple of batches of EV go out of warranty as they will not give much revenue till they are in warranty. Once they notice significant revenue in EVs will they step forward. That is why they are reluctant to invest in exclusive EV workshops. So as per his opinion, they will be slow to setup and only after another 2 years till 2026 or so.

I believe they should have launched the facelifted nexon ev with acti.ev architecture itself. Even now they can update the nexon with this architecture and plonk in say a 45KWh battery pack at the same existing price.

Punch.ev - 25KWh and 35KWh
Nexon.ev - 30KWh and 45KWh
Currv.ev - 40KWh and 55KWh

All tata EVs are overpriced by atleast 2 Lakhs IMHO. Price correction is need of the hour. Either they do it now or they will have to do it anyway when the competition arrives.

- Better interior quality compared to Nexon
- 3 New colors in EV (Sunshine, Gold, White in top-end variant) there will be two white colors and rest regular colors
- SA was confident about 55kwh battery pack but not sure if it's LR or MR!
- Faster charging compared to Nexon. They mentioned something like 0-100% in 25 minutes, but I dont believe it as they had no technical details to confirm it.

Imagine if the 55KWh battery pack is the MR and we have an even bigger battery pack in the offering.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Tata EV sales have been declining for the last few months despite now having more models and facelifts (Punch EV and Nexon EV facelift). They now have 4 EVs but sales are the same as when they had only Nexon EV in 2022. This is due to higher prices, slow DC charging speeds, tiny batteries, and reliability issues. While the entire EV world is moving to bigger batteries and faster charging speeds, Tata is releasing more models with smaller batteries than the Nexon EV launched in early 2020.

No matter how many features they will cram in their cars, people will not buy if they ignore the most important EV specs (range and charging speed). They also need to price their EVs much lower. Otherwise, they will lose their first-mover advantage in no time to the likes of MG and Mahindra. They should do away with small battery variants of Tiago and Punch EVs and price all their models by 2-3 lakhs lower. Also, the DC charging speed has to be at least 60KW going forward, especially for Currv EV.

The first mover in the EV game was actually Mahindra, Reva, E2O, eVerito and now the 300-400 EV. Once upon a time Reva was the largest electric car maker in the world. MG has been selling EVs in India almost as long as Tata has. I think Tata EVs have been fairly priced vis a vis competition, and they reacted quickly to Mahindra's price cuts. Tata's primary focus in my opinion must be getting it's quality on point, followed by continuously improving the quality and numbers of their service network.

There is no need to charge too much premium over Nexon EV as its mostly based on it?
If it goes into 21-22lakh+ range, it will be a bit harder to sell.

I have assumed there will only be Long range version.
I feel Currve MR pricing will start where Nexon LR stops, same strategy they have used for Tiago Ev to Punch EV to Nexon Ev , where the top end of one model ends the base model of next model starts. Otherwise it will cannibalize Nexon Ev sales. So 21 lakhs to 28 lakhs that's bang on ZSev pricing almost it might match as still it has value tags over the ZSeV in the form of a bigger battery and wider service and sales network, or a safer bet would be a slight undercutting of the ZSeV pricing. Lets see, I am all game for an affordable LR Currve, would be a great upgrade from the Punch LR.

Revas are well ahead of their time and the technology at that time was not good enough to make them mainstream. Tata Nexon, Hyundai Kona, and MG ZS were all launched around the same time, but Tata was able to capture the market as the Nexon EV was priced well below (Rs 6 lakhs less) the competition at that time.

Tata EV are fairly priced? Over time, Mahindra and MG have launched cars with bigger batteries, faster charging, and more features at lower prices. They are also bigger cars with more interior space and more reliable.

As I said earlier, Tata should reduce the prices of their EVs by 2-3 lakhs and price the MR Curvv EV as a competitor to XUV400 long range. LR Curvv EV should be priced against the base ZS EV variants. Otherwise, they will lose the EV market as well just like they lost SUV market to Mahindra and others.

90% of Tata sales are coming from <4m cars. It's much worse than Maruti. Mahindra is outselling the Tata's in >4m SUVs by a huge margin. The same thing will happen in EVs in the future if Tata continues with mediocre products (slow DC charging, unreliable) and optimistic pricing.

I'm pretty sure there's someone at Lamborghini right now polishing their legal files, because with that kind of styling, they must feel like someone just drop-kicked their design rights!!

All of the above, and many also have a solar installation which makes charging the car practically free

Looks much better to me in real life. Didn't really like much based on their modelled pictures/teasers etc. in the past couple of years, so hopes were low, except for a few recent ones like the Sandakphu clip.

Oh this is looking really good!

If the niggles are taken care of and priced right, this can be a game changer in the segment.

Curvv has started to look great in real life pictures. I have started to feel there will be more takers for Curvv once it goes on display on the showrooms. With right engine options and ICE variants spread with and without sunroof, Curvv has a potential to cannibalize sales of lower variants of Harrier.

Looking at both Curvv and Harrier side by side, Curvv front has more resemblance to Harrier. This is created using my basic photo editing skills with MSPaint.

It will be difficult for general people to differentiate between Curvv and Harrier. The bumper design is different, but it is difficult to spot.

Harrier image is from Tata cars configurator

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Nexon.ev EMP+ LR (top end) is now peaking at 18L + RTO (if any) + insurance = Approx 18.5L on-road in Delhi.
(Quoted by Tata.ev gurgaon dealer)

This is a good ground for optimistic Curvv pricing.
Hoping it peaks at 23L exshowroom
