Shailesh Chandra did mention that the engine is going to be available for the first time.... I guess TaMo did go ahead and make a new DIESEL engine.

In addition for diesel lovers, we are introducing our NEW Kryojet diesel engine which perfectly blends powerful performance and efficiency. For the first time, the Kryojet diesel would be offered with a next gen DCA for maximum comfort and performance.

Curvv.ev to come with 55KwHr battery. Along with 1.2C charging.

They have used the covering of curvv ICE on the EV. Look closely.

I think that's an illusion created by the safety veil or sticker. I suppose the stickers were made considering the ICE car (or were made for both the ICE and t he EV) which is why the fuel filler cap has a separate cut out even when its not actually there if you look closely

Here are the range figures for the Curvv EV. P1 is the standard test range whereas C75 is a cycle that Tata says is representative of 75% of its EV customers usage.

- ICE also has 450mm water wading and 208mm ground clearance!







KRYOTEK Diesel: 1.5L, Packs 118hp and the option of a 7-speed DCT auto.

- New Hyperion 1.2 turbo petrol direct injection engine has 125hp and 225Nm, with 250Nm 'torque rush'

Reveal highlights:
1. Tata to open 4 new TATA.ev showrooms in Kerala.
2. Tata CURVV.ev will be launched first, followed by ICE.
3. EV will get 45kWh(MR) and 55kWh(LR) battery packs, with the LR variant can be charged from 0-150 kms of range in 15 minutes. 0-100 kmph in 8.6s and range of 585 KM for LR.
4. ICE will get 3 engines, 1.2L Revotron from Nexon, 1.2L TGDi Hyperion, 1.5L Kryojet Diesel. All three engines get the option of MT/DCT.
5. ICE is based on the ATLAS platform, capable of holding multiple bodystyles. Tata claims CURVV has superior ride & handling. 215/55 R18 tyres, ground clearance of 190mm, water wading capacity of 450mm.
5. Spacious cabin with 500L bootspace and there's a frunk in the EV.
6. Features include ADAS Level 2, JBL 9 speakers, 360 camera, AVAS safety sound, 12.3" touchscreen, EPB with auto hold 18" alloy wheels, Flush door handles with illumination, Powered tailgate, V2L, V2V function, Air purifier, Cruise Control, Auto Dim IRVM, Wireless charger.
7. TATA.ev originals Accessory range introduced with 60+ Accessories + 2 years of warranty.

Tata surely is going for the Gen Z (/and what-alphabet-not) with this launch. It was refreshing to see Shirish, Anand, Mohan et al with black jackets, and contrasting white sports shoes. “You can take us seriously, but we are fun” kind of a vibe!

Infra:

• Tata has systematically addressed EV adoption barriers. With every successive launch, electric mobility has been made more accessible. Open collaboration with independent providers for installing 13500 charging infrastructure, set to double in the next 2 years.
  
• 2 exclusive EV showrooms in Gurgaon. 4 more coming up in Kerala.

Safety:

• Tata is the only OEM where all SUVs are rated 5 star in GNCAP.
  
• Curvv will be capable of returning 5-star in BNCAP. I believe the result is coming out in 48 hours (or so I guess I heard).

Design:

• Mid-SUV has grown exponentially in the past few years, which is ideal for Indian families. Tata sought to provide a premium design of a coupe, with traditional SUV characteristics.
  
• New Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture (ATLAS) being launched with Curvv. Curvv has a length measure of 4.3 meters.
  
• Acti.EV architecture being launched with Curvv, which is a pure electric EV architecture.

Engine/Motor and Transmission:

• Launch of Curvv with EV first, followed with ICE versions.
  
• 55kWh and 45 kWh will be launched, wherein Curvv will provide extended long range capacity. Designed battery which is 1.2C rated, which will allow top up of 150 kms in mere 15 minutes. Real-time charge point aggregator information available on iRa, and provide seamless collaboration with Charge Point Operators (CPO).
  
• The car has a 123 kW liquid cooled motor (electrically limited to 160 kmph top speed). Estimated real-time range of 400-425 kms with the 55kWh battery version.
  
• 0-100 kmph in 8.6 seconds for the EV.
  
• DCA will be available for both diesel and petrol engines. 1.2L Hyperion 125 bhp, 225 nm torque petrol engine launched with Curvv. Kryotech diesels will, for the first time, come with DCA transmission.
  
• New Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine being introduced with the Curvv; being called the Hyperion. The 1.2L engine is capable of 250nm Torque, which concentrated in the low-end.

• AI/ML on the manual transmission for the car to self learn based on car usage for smoother and optimal shifts.
  
• Dual mass flywheel and high pressure fuel injection with in-built isolators to control NVH.
  
• Variable Geometry Turbocharger
  
• Diesel power train remains a popular choice. A new generation 1.5L Kryojet engine is also being launched with the vehicle. Only BSVI without the need of ad-blue!
