re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Anyone know which Bengaluru Tata dealers have the EV on display and which ones have the ICE on display, please?

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Hi, apologies for being off topic, but since this thread have lots of views, and coupe design is neither falls into SUV or MUV or Crossover, I would like to have opinion of fellow BHPians if mainstream manufacturers can think of reinventing their sedan by taking inspiration from this coupe style e.g. City, Verna, Slavia, Virtus etc. by keeping everything as it is but increase the height to say between 1530mm to 1550mm with approx. 180 to 185mm ground clearance (Slavia & Virtus already have good ground clearance). This way the sedan may not be very good drag coefficient but sedan will have slightly higher ingress and egress and seating position will be slightly higher, which is more convenient and could increase their desirability & sales. While I may sound stupid by saying this, however if moderators feel some merit in this, they can start a new thread on this topic.

Saw an ICE video walkaround on Youtube, happened to be a manual. Tata has carried forward that super ugly manual gear stick from the altroz racer. Looks really cheap on an otherwise premium and gorgeous looking car.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

After checking out the Curvv EV today, I have decided to continue with my 3XO booking and move forward with delivery process. Not because the Curvv is bad, but its overall package is not exciting enough to stretch my budget above 20 grand. For context, I am upgrading from a 2016 Tiago and below points are from my POV, drawing comparisons with the 3XO (17.5L OTR for the AX7L TGDI MT).

Curvv is definitely a looker and has a modern design overall. Photos and videos does not do justice to this car.

Dashboard is nice to look at with not-so-busy design aspects. LED mood lighting is executed very well.
The soft touch like material below AC vents actually feel like plastic to the touch.

Steering wheel is nice to hold but which misses out reach adjustment.

Fantastic seats have a soft and premium feel, both visually and to sit on. They also get ventilation which is a miss in 3XO. These are white and but not too much white like 3XO which will be a pain to maintain.

Sadly, rear passengers do not get the same comfort due to compromised headroom and legroom. They have to sit in knee-up position, even with a stretched foot
Note that Curvv's wheelbase is 40mm smaller than the sub-4m 3XO (2560mm vs 2600mm)

I was hoping for near-flat floor battery packaging but Tata has let me down with the (almost) same raised battery pack. There are no magazine pockets either (3XO has them)

Sunroof is the same size as 3XO's and useable by rear occupants (not to put their heads out, but to enjoy the sky view). Sunroof buttons are easy to use and well laid out (vs confusing layout on 3XO).

Exceptional sound quality from HK/JBL (3XO loses here big time, despite boasting the same HK branding).
360 degree camera quality and response is miles ahead (3XO has a slight lags)

Stubby shifter looks nice and easy to use. Many of us will miss cup holders in the center console. IMO, wireless charger could have been placed ahead of the shifter to make room for cup holders. Switches for EPB and Auto Hold could have been designed better.

While the interiors are put together quite well, exterior panels are still typical of Tata -
misaligned and asymmetric on either sides. These are not deal breakers to me and not obvious unless one specifically looks for them.

I feel the Curvv offers a good value proposition with all its bells and whistles, except for interior space and rear seat comfort. I hope the TGDI variants are priced competitively, with less NVH as opposed to current gen revotrons. Looking forward to come back to Tata for my next upgrade

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

The thing I like about Curvv the most is that finally Tata has come up with a total package of a car from day 1. It just feels complete, be it the feature list, design, interiors (although shared with Nexon but not bad nonetheless), and even the engine+transmission options, offering both petrols and even the diesel with both manual and DCT combos, not to mention the EV is already launched. Full marks this time to Tata for the effort; Nexon is a proven player in the market despite its niggles and I expect Curvv to take the baton further. Poor Citroen will be taking the collateral damage once again.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

The rear space seems poor, look at the guy in the pic absolutely no underthigh support.

Its not just with Curvv, most cars even when they are more than 4 metres do not increase the seat width, some do increase the legroom though but the seats size remains the same.

I dont understand why all car makers end up giving just more boot space.

It would be great to have a car where you can slide the seat backwards and also recline it to adjust the room between boot and 2nd row.

Unfortunately found this lacking in all cars and the rear seat comfort in most was same as a sub 4 meter car.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

I did check out the Curvv EV in the showroom today. I am not reporting a detailed opinion & pics without driving the ICE diesel Curvv.

But from my initial few minutes inside the car.

* It feels exactly like the Nexon inside. Not more premium as a few report.

* The rear bench was worse than Nexon. I am not sure whether because EV has raised height, but the underthigh support was very poor. I am 6'2 for reference.

* I had about a few mm space above my head. The coupe design doesn't favor the headroom at all.

I will write a detailed report once I do a test drive of the Curvv diesel. As of now, I would not choose Curvv if I am being chauffeur driven.

I am surprised to see people being surprised by the headroom in a Coupe. It's not designed for rear passenger headroom, it's designed for style and statement. If you want a lot of rear headroom, this is not the body-style for you.

Not wanting roof to scrape your head is not "wanting a lot of headroom".

If style statement is everything why even have rear seats? A 3 door coupe will be so much more stylish.

You want to sell a 5 door family coupe, you need to make sure it has atleast decent headroom (not a lot of headroom). Look at Basalt, no one complains about headroom, and it is also a coupe.

Sir, firstly, it was not a direct comment on what you said, I have generally noticed this on Instagram posts and some other folks here as well. A coupe body-style will never have that much headroom, especially compared to a "normal" car. It is not the job of a coupe to provide that.

Secondly, you are 6'2", as you mentioned. That's very much an outlier in the Indian context (according to ergonomic studies), and it makes sense that your head is scraping in a coupe. Kindly try out a Honda Civic or Mercedes A Class limousine or CLA or BMW 2 Series, and you will face the same situation. Me, being 6', can totally understand your predicament, but I just feel that your expectations are a smidge unfair on the body style. It's a 4.3 m long coupe style, it is very difficult to make it look good while having - let's say ample - headroom for a 6+ footer.

Edit: Since you edited your comment and added the Basalt, it is not a coupe, it is very much a sedan SUV. Look at it from the sides, it is a straight line from the A to the C pillar. I know it might sound like splitting hairs, but it is what it is. And just because you would prefer a 3 door coupe, does not mean everyone else would. I would take the convenience of getting in and out of a Curvv over the extremely low CLA or Civic any day of the week. So there are customers for all kinds of cars.

Well, you have to define what a decent headroom is. If you take the Xylo or similar as benchmark, then none of the sedans offer "decent" headroom. It's a well known fact that coupe designs come with this limitation. So, there's no point in harping in on this. Let's just say the Curvv is not for everyone, which is to say sun rises in the east because that's the case for every car.

BTW, in one of the reviews of the petrol car in Tamil, the guy who appears to be about 5' 10" gets about 3 to 4 inch clearance in reclined position. He even goes on to say the headroom is pretty decent for a coupe car, probably because of the scooped out roofline at the back.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Hello All,
I visited the Tata Garve showroom in Tathawade, Pune this morning. Here are my few observations about the car.

Only one diesel and one EV were available on display.

1. The car looks handsome in real than in pictures
2. Though many parts are carried over from Nexon, the interior looks more premium.
3. Fit and finish is surprisingly superb
4. All seats have good bolstering and can accommodate a heavy build person easily
5. power seat adjustment is only for the driver seat and not for the passenger seat
6. The infotainment screen is bigger and goes very well with the dashboard design
7. The gear lever feels premium to hold
8. Did not observe the misalignment on the steering control buttons, the way we saw it in the Harrier
9. The door pads are carried over from Nexon and feels Solid
10. Doors close with a good and ensuring thud
11. Space in the rear is good for 5'8".
12. A 6' person may face headroom issues in the rear due to coupe design
13. I did not like the glossy plastic on the outside. It will be difficult to maintain it.
14. I would prefer the physical buttons rather than everything touch-controlled.

Some pictures

All in all it's a nice package. ICE prices are not yet revealed but as per the sales executive, top-end diesel will go max up to 21L on road Pune (2L over Nexon diesel).
