Wow, some supplier is going to go bankrupt soon. Thats quite a number of replacements to be made and hopefully it is a precautionary measure arising due to random quality checks. If they suspect a probability of the tie rod breaking that would definitely cause damage to the surrounding components and this is better replaced asap.

Whoa, the steering tierod - if broken - can result in complete loss of steering input. Imagine no steering input even at 80 - 90 kmph on the highway. High chance of fatality.

BHPian owners of these cars should just stop driving until the recall is done.

Will add again to our homepage to spread the word. This is one of the most dangerous car defects I've seen in India & Maruti better fix the cars soon. Unfortunately, the percentage of recalled cars that are actually fixed is very low in India due to lack of customer awareness.

Surprisingly there have been 4 recalls already in the first 6 months of the year from Maruti affecting their entire line up almost. But its good that the manufacturer is coming out with the recalls before any major incident happening.
1. April 2023 - Vaccum pump in Brake system for 7K+ Baleno RS vehicles
2. Jan 2023 - Airbag controller unit for 17k+ Alto, Eeco, Balneo, Grand Vitara vehicels
3. Jan 2023 - Rear seat belt mounting for 11k Grand Vitara vehicles
4. Dec 2022 - Shoulder height assy for front air bags for 9k+ Grand vitara XL6, Ertiga, Ciaz vehicles.

The above info is from news available on internet.

This is true. For the clutch slave cylinder change in my 2010 Punto, the TATA service centre (Joshi Autozone, Chandigarh) lied to my face that mine is already metal (updated one) and not plastic (old one). The car was on a flatbed two years later. Dont know what they achieved by doing this.

For Maruti, mine was part of ISG motor (MGU) replacement. They kept calling me in repeatedly to get it changed as I was unable to find time during COVID-19. I visited a local service centre in Uttarakhand just for car washing and the system picked up MGU replacement automatically. The SA told me that regardless of where I go in India, my car’s job card cant be opened for anything without MGU replacement getting added automatically.
