same question for you busa?? wasnt it written in the mags that the top speed is 175?

i drove an nhc cvt. it wasnt in the best of shape.. but my right foot was in fully and i ran out of road and it had barely touched 100. my innova gets to 120-130 on the same stretch.

He does have point here. While the car may not give the same thrills as some others - the bottomline is that the 0-100, 20-80, 40-100 for most cars in this segment are around 2/3 seconds apart.

For most practical purposes on normal roads, this doesn't really make much of a difference.

you seemed to have missed out the word "might" in his post -

"NHC might do 205kmph" He did not stress on the top speed rather he tried to stress on the handling part of NHC..

That doesn't prove anything. It depends a lot on gearing and which gear were you driving the car. Moreover, Innova (assuming its diesel) will have more torque at lower revs, which would make it pull quicker early on, but would lose steam once it reaches 120 while NHC will go on much more.

i didnt choose the gear. it was a cvt(auto). im not trying to prove anything. just telling you about my experience with an nhc. like i mentioned it wasnt in the best of shape. but it is very good for city driving. hopefully ill get to drive a good one sometime.

This is the classic 'aha' moment. My uncle has claimed a speed of 160kmph - two adults, one child and luggage with AC in an NHC (non ZX) GXi. He has a Civic now, so I have not really tested his claim.

typeo, did not quite get your point. You mean, an NHC wont do 160? I would think it should not be impossible for the NHC, even if not exactly a cakewalk.

No my point is that the NHC can easily do 160 with load. He (my uncle) was in a race with a Skoda and said he slowed down after he saw the the speedo at 160. What I was trying to say was:

1. Akshay was driving an automatic version which may not have been able to perform as well
2. I have personally not taken a Honda City to 160 so I am not 100% sure - typical disclaimer (bad habit of consultants)

Honda city at 160 is actually going slower than that. 150-155 is more like it. Its called speedo error. All cars have it.

Bingo i meant that even if the City does 205 so what, its highly uncomfortable doing it and speeds like 160kmph are a cakewalk for the Cedia.

I owned a City before GXi and i can tell you Cedia should not be compared with it, the cedia is just something else which cna be compared to only Civic or maybe Accord and still beat both in handling and stability

cedia benefits from the bigger engine. not a fair comparison. But yes it tramples NHC.

Cedia ot the LANCER as we call it here in dxb out performs the NHC in almost all ares where performace and handling is concerned, try pushing the NHC and the CEDIA around corners and you will definitely understand what i am referring to......BUT consiider the rear seat space and the legroom I have a weird feeling that the NHC scores.

You are right, but the point is that the NHC is no slouch. It can run, maybe not as quickly or as willingly as the Cedia, but it can run.

NHC VTEC is considered in this thread and not just the NHC. So IMO no point in comparing NHC and Cedia.

True. And extrapolation helps sometimes.
