re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to March 31st 2025

Mandatory fines from 15 October. Enough time given to all to correct any number of issues!

They should charge double at tollbooths and levy automatic fines at all AI cameras.

No HSRP? Pay up to 1k fine from early Oct

I agree with your POV. I also submit that the law should be applied with equal measure on both sides, that's the vehicle owner and the vehicle registerer/ Govt for any lapses by either of them.

If we read the posts in this thread, we come across many horror stories as to how inspite of repeated visits to RTO over many months, some basic errors haven't been rectified resulting in the vehicle owner unable to purchase the HSRP.

My 2007 Honda Activa manufacturer was mentioned as "Others" and it was not available in the list of manufacturer in HSRP providers portal and hence I wasn't able to book the HSRP. Whose mistake is that and who is getting penalized for that error?

I was able to get it sorted with RTO and get the HSRP.

There are a large number of vehicle owners who are unable to get HSRP due to clerical errors by RTO while issuing the RC. Getting those clerical errors has become a herculean task for many and even after months of running around RTO, the errors are not rectified..

So, let the law be same for both stakeholders. Let the Govt penalize the. RTO Personel for their errors and then it's fair to call for penalizing the vehicle owner too.

Ofcourse the common reply will be "Govt can do anything and we are not to question them. They can do all the screwup and mess up things, but they are our Mai baap. We bend and agree to their diktats. They go scot-free for their goof-up but penalize the vehicle owner to his gill.

I doubt if they will start fining just 3 weeks from now with 75% of vehicles pre 2019 still with the non-HSRP plates.
Deccan Herald doesn't mention anything about fines.

That is because the DH article was updated (shortly after I shared the link) with the new court adjournment deadline of 20 November 2024.

re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to March 31st 2025

Hi All, I have a TN registered 2 wheeler, which is now in Bangalore. When I check the bookmyhsrp and siam.in website, the drop down list of states does not have Tamil Nadu in it. What are my options, if any? I did try my luck by choosing Karnataka and entering TN number, but it was rejected by the portal. Google also does not help much in this regard. Any insights into this are appreciated.

1. You have to obtain NoC from TN
2. Reregister in Karnataka
3. Get KA number
4. Apply for HSRP

Above is the process.

re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to March 31st 2025

Has anyone tried https://mahahsrp.com/product/scooter-moped/ to get HSRP for MH registered vehicles?

Any ideas if this is a genuine website?

Thank you for the details. I sent the email immediately and today I was able to place the order for HSRP for my Activa

re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to March 31st 2025

I have been riding my CG(Chattisgarh) registered TVS Jupiter in Bangalore for some time. My scooter do not have HSRP number plates. How can I acquire HSRP number plates? I have already checked bookmyhsrp and I do not see Chattisgarh in the dropdown list.

You are expected to firstly follow the law of the land. Get NoC from Chhattisgarh, pay prorated Karnataka road tax, get KA number and then apply for HSRP.

I had the same issue and messed up my HSRP order for my RD350. Due to the manufacturer being shown as Escorts, there was no option to select motorcycle while ordering. I thought since in RC card it is mentioned as motorcycle, the plates will be built accordingly. To my surprise, they actually came for home fitment with LMV size plates. The person took a picture of the vehicle and cancelled the order with reason being "wrong vehicle type". So basically they don't even seem to cross check or match the vehicle type in Vaahan database with the HSRP order. Is there any way we can raise a complaint or file for a refund?

Thanks,

I have written to the RTO almost a month back and yet the manufacturer shows as Escorts Heavy Equipment manufacturer and no option to choose RX100. Looks like I have to catch an agent now...

I have attached the template I used.

Thank you to automata for providing another template and the resolution for this pesky issue!
Thank you guys for posting this. I was going crazy not being able to find a solution to this for my bike. Just took a printout of this template and went to RTO Yeshwantpur. They asked for a signed copy of my RC along with the letter. Super smooth process. They said it will take anywhere from 48 hours to up to 10 days since they have a huge backlog all the time. In any case, this should work in a few days' time now. Thank you so much. Appreciate it!
