IMO there is no use in keeping an old car spending so much on restoration.
I can understand the attachment towards things we use for so long.. but its not wise to build up stockpile in our home just for the sake of attachments.

CHEERS !!

If you are really bent upon to keep this car, get the paint job & engine overhauling done.

Keep the car . Do it up slowly if budget doesn't permit. If people here can restore old pre 1950s then why don't u restore a pre 1990 vehicle. It will definitely be worth the cost involved, and makes more sense.

sir i am new to this forum. my dad baught a 1985 model red colour. we all used it and after all these years the car has done about 1.6 lakhs. i baught one more car 1985 model blue colour 2 months back and i have put in a high lifr cam, headder, and going to put an esteem carborator into it. The seats were bad so i put in esteem front seats and going to do something to the rear seats later. after driving the safari, fiats, dolphins, ambi and many other cars it really feels grate to sit in this particular car. Even now people turn around when they see my car. I strongly suggest we have a club for this model car and please dont sell it just do it up and i dont think you will ned 1.5 laks to do it up get most of the things in the guj. pm me if you need anything i can give you some contact numbers.

Hello rudra ,

Thew engine job should not cost you more than 5000 .

The cost of new pistons liners valves is around 2000 , machining charges would be 500 and gaskets etc would be another 1000 . labour for removing the car engine and refitting would be another 1000 . incase you need to replace the oil pump or any con rod , even then the cost would not be more than 6000 rs .

My best bet would be to do up the engine and since you have an Amby ,you could just ask the mechanic to remove the block for your maruti and you could take the engine to the machine shop . May be you could even play around with the ports...valves heheh

Rudra san..
(i understnad san is referrred to senior persons in japanese)
Why dont you sell it to a guy (at reasonable price) making his dream come true for the one whos is really wanting a car but who cannot afford a new one and it could be a person whom you may knwo around.
-just another suggestion...

Rudra has decided to sell, therefore the topic will be closed. He might add a foot note later.
