Quite refreshing to see a well-priced car in the current market scenario. Love the sporty nature of this car, the turbo-petrol motor, the styling & equipment. It's a heck of a lot of fun to drive. The N6 MT will be the perfect fun-to-drive hatchback for someone on a budget. DCT there for those with bigger pockets.

Am a big fan of VFM, compact & fun automobiles. Recently drove the Fronx 1.0L turbo-petrol and had a blast!

Other variants pricing here:

It’s always been a 3cyl turbo engine since Venue gen-1 days.

N6 MT is indeed a great choice for anyone looking for a VFM fun car. This engine is a real fun on an open road. I recently drove a Aspire TDCI (a fav among enthusiasts), but didn’t really enjoy it as much as I do this 1.0 turbo petrol in my 1st Gen Venue.

Interesting to see that the N Line(N8 variant) continues to come with fog lamps when the normal version has dropped them. Though this means that the lower N6 variant doesn't have DRLs at all(I checked the brochure). Also good to see that they launched the car this time with a proper MT and not the iMT.

Six speed manual atlast.

Guess Hyundai found enough scapegoats(other models) to plonk in their iMT, that they left the i20 N line alone this time.

Other than the 'really subtle' cosmetic changes, are there any changes in terms of features/set up to the N8 DCT variant? How much more expensive is the facelifted car?

So you would be ok suggesting these cars, Nline & Fronx, to someone despite the dismal safety ratings?

Re: Hyundai has launched the i20 N Line facelift at Rs 9.99 lakh

Good revamp, in fact.

Added MT and DCT to N6. Also drive modes. Should have been the case in the first iteration itself as Hyundai used to sell 6MT in Venue with same powertrain. Also, the car was supposed to be sporty. But they chose to the road not taken.

I was contemplating on N8 DCT vs Sonet HTX DCT vs Fronx 1.0 AT. Official brochure is not yet out but if the features are loaded in previous fashion, the newly added N6 DCT will work out a logical option for me.

I haven't seen any safety ratings for either of these models, i20 and Fronx. Are they out yet?

Re: Hyundai has launched the i20 N Line facelift at Rs 9.99 lakh

This reminds me of what Honda did to the Jazz and WR-V in 2021 - this is no facelift; it is a nose-lift (if I am making any sense). However, I'm glad they didn't go overboard with the cladding at the rear like in the regular i20 facelift, and that they didn't shift the logo to the bonnet on this one.

Happy to see three pedals in the footwell finally! Hyundai should've given a manual from the beginning itself though. Well, better late than never.

Would asking for a plain red / connected LED strip in place of the chrome line at the rear (atleast for the N Line) be too much?

The i20 was crash tested last year. It received a 3 star rating by Latin NCAP.
It certainly isn't so bad that I would entirely refrain from recommending the car, unless the buyer is going to use the car extensively on the highway.

The Fronx hasn't been tested yet, although the old Baleno, based on the Heartect platform, received 0 star. Both the Fronx and the new Baleno are also based on the same platform. Bharat NCAP will reportedly test the new Baleno in the future. Fingers crossed.

Of course I would! Other than the GNCAP, do remember there are 99 other factors that will determine whether you walk away from a crash or not. And a 3-star car is still 100 times safer than the primary commuting vehicle of India, the 2-wheeler.

Sole exception = if it's going to be used exclusively on highways, then something like the Altroz (incredible high speed manners too). But most cars spend 90% of their time in the city under 50 - 60 kmph, so...
