Opel Astra-comfortable with a lousy zip
Lancer-great in all ways
Innova-spacious but not with the comfort of a car

Not yet taken the Laura long distance but I think it will be great

A sad day today - TATAs betrayed..

i have driven it to completely crazy places.
i agree with you.amazing comfort and ride.

Dear Asitkde, the intention was not to hurt you. The delay in response is coz I returned to this thread today. I expressed an opinion vis-a-vis the road conditions here.

That is why my last line was that even an Amby would have been a comfortable ride if roads like autobahn existed here.

And dear, you must understand expressing an opinion is not a pointless response and not in the least criticism of somebody. Hope your feelings are assuaged now.

Well, initially I also thought that the thread is only about the most comfortable cars in long drives on INDIAN roads. Since I am really fascinated by long drives and I have not personally done many long drives in Indian conditions, I kept silent and kept on reading the thread with great interest. But then I found people posting about their long drive experience in the US and elsewhere, and then only I decided to share my experience with others. Obviously it has not pleased you. I am sorry!
What I have written is no reflection on cars available in India. I have driven even an auto in Kolkata (obviously unauthorised) and once in my childhood even hand-pulled a rickshaw. I want to know from mods if sharing my experience with my explanation above was wrong. I don't have to write any more in any of the threads in team-bhp if this kind of pointless responses keep popping up.

i somehow love the E from w 124, built like a tank and tireless cruiser
for a soft roader Crv is a good highway car, but ONLY for FRONT seat. Rear passengers will not like twisties and broken patches
Optra is another one which cannot be rivaled for back seat comfort

i have been in a "rolls royce phantom" from delhi to chandigarh , and guys, it has to be the most comfortable car. its like driving on clouds, no sound, vibration and road noise and almost no movement even on the roughest patches we encountered. i know its a rolls, but i just wanted to share my experience.

Four slipped discs and a 17-stitch surgery on the spine say that the Safari is THE most comfortable vehicle on Indian roads, bar none - whether its for the driver or regular passengers (not counting the jump seats).

GD no more beer for you....lol!

If you cant get the best of comfort at that price, where else would you go ;), it has to be the best if its RR (Richie Rich's - Rolls Royce)

AMEN!
The Safari Dicor is the best GT car taking on any road in our country today.

Without getting into Mercs and Camrys, its gotto be TATA SAfari and Skoda Octy.

After driving 450 miles in 2 days, I feel the toyota corolla automatic is an amazing car to drive in for long distances,
Loses breath around 90mph... but I guess thats okay.

My pick would be :

1. Tata Safari
2. OHC
3. Hyundai Getz 1.3

I've been driving to kerala and back in these cars twice a year for the past 4 years now.Among themselves,The Safari is truly a large soft sofa on four wheels.

Went to a Delhi - Rajasthan - Delhi trip with a friend on his new Optra Magnum diesel..WOOW! Driving couldn't be better my friends.. You just have to feel it. That car is meant for long distance travelling, swooshing past all lesser mortals and making them shrink by shame. What a car!!

My Other choices would be:
Fiat Palio and Old Maruti Zen

toyota camry
just want sleep in that car.been to jaipur and Agra with our forign delegates and it is indeed wonderfull.
even at the speed of 160 you dont have any noise and ofcourse highways are superb.
