Well - Looking at Maruti's moves in the last two years, I am of the view that the new Swift will neither get CVT nor ADAS. Firstly, regarding CVT, Maruti removed CVT from the Baleno and replaced it with an AMT to keep the price under control since they have added a good number of new features to the Baleno. Swift sits below the Baleno, so I highly doubt if it will get CVT.

Next, regarding ADAS, it should be noted that Maruti dropped the ADAS while launching Invicto. Grand Vitara also doesn't get ADAS while other cars in the segment(Astor, Elevate, Seltos) gets it. So, overall, I am of the opinion that Maruti is not interested in pursuing ADAS for their lineup, atleast for now and hence Swift, which is a hatchback, getting it is very unlikely.

Officially launched in Japan:

Quote:
It is equipped with a newly developed inline 3-cylinder DOHC 1.2-liter "Z12E" engine. By adopting VVT on the intake side and achieving high-speed combustion and a high compression ratio, the system produces a maximum output of 60 kW (82 PS) at 5700 rpm and a maximum torque of 108 Nm (11 kgfm) at 4500 rpm.
Combined with the newly adopted high-efficiency CVT, the WLTC mode fuel economy has been significantly improved from 21.8km/L (2WD) to 23.4km/L (21WD) of the previous model. In addition, a model equipped with a mild hybrid system that combines an ISG generator with a motor function and a dedicated lithium-ion battery is also available. The WLTC mode fuel economy has also been further improved from 0.24 km/L to 5.2 km/L (2WD model). A 5-speed MT model is also available for the 25WD model, and the WLTC mode fuel economy is 4.<>km/L, making it a more fuel-efficient model.

Rumour: New-gen Maruti Swift production to begin in Feb 2024

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the fourth-generation Swift in India later this year. According to the latest media reports, the new Swift could go on sale in the coming months, while production is expected to commence in February 2024.

The new-gen Swift made its global debut in concept form at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Since then, the car has been spotted testing in India. It will be manufactured at the brand’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat.

The new Swift has a reprofiled grille, sweptback headlamps with L-shaped LED daytime running lights and a clamshell bonnet. The rear looks similar to the outgoing version and features angular tail lamps.

Inside, the new dashboard has a layered design with a floating touchscreen head-unit in the centre, a 3-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel and a new HVAC module.

Reports suggest that the new Swift will be the first model to get Suzuki's new Z-Series engine. It is said to be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder unit, which will replace the current 4-cylinder K-Series engine.

Re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India for the first time

Looks like the age of 1.2L NA 3-pot engines is upon us. I fully expect Maruti to update the WagonR, Ignis, Swift, Dzire, Baleno & Fronx with this engine in the next 1-2 years.
The only other remaining manufacturer Hyundai/ Kia will follow suit likewise and ditch their smooth & refined 1.2L 4-pot engine in favour of 3-pot ones.

End of an era for the 1.2L K-Series Suzuki engine.

Re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India for the first time

I am glad to have the 2018 version of the 1.2L 4-pot Swift. It is an absolute joy to drive. No matter how much insulation or some other high-end technology you use, a 3-pot engine just doesn't feel as good as it's 4-pot counter-part.

Re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India for the first time

New Swift in Europe:

Quote:
At the launch in France scheduled for next spring, Suzuki is marketing a single engine. The 4-cylinder engine disappeared and was replaced by a new naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine with 81 hp. The latter uses the brand's mild hybridization recipe (12v). This system converts the kinetic energy generated during deceleration into electricity, stores it in the lithium-ion battery to assist the engine during acceleration, thus improving fuel efficiency. The package promises a maximum torque of 110 Nm and lower fuel consumption. To be checked during the test. As an option, customers will be able to opt for Allgrip all-wheel drive, which remains unique in the small city car segment. The CVT automatic transmission will also be offered as an option.

Re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India for the first time

Is this new Swift 2024 under testing? The silhouette looks exactly like a Swift. There was a sedan model also with same camouflage. We spotted these two vehicles near Narkanda (Himachal Pradesh) on 3rd February, 2024.

Hi, I agree with you 100%. When driving to Peth or Mandai area of the city, i10 is my first choice (unless I have to transport 4+ passengers the ertiga gets called up for duty). The compact dimensions are an absolute blessing.

Do you have the pics of the sedan? Although we all know that the front profile of both the new gen Swift and Dzire would be the same, the only difference could be the grille and the bumper, the Dzire has been spotted earlier but there are no pics of the front profile on the web as of now. Hope to see one soon and the Swift to launch in the coming weeks.
