Consider it as a small amount difference for the peace of mind in the long run. Once the panels have been opened outside they are never going back to the factory fit. Also, how much risk are you willing to put on your new car with any garage outside?

Yes, it sure makes sense from that perspective. Thanks !

Fit some properly sized wheels, Toyota. The current situation is pathetic, especially since users are not permitted to fit bigger aftermarket wheels and tyres anymore, as per the SC judgement.

There are times I feel really proud of Home Grown boys !
The 3OO has 200 nm of torque for the petrol engine. Hence I was curious, the engine is powerful and you always feel confident while closing those gaps and quick overtakes. M&M has done a fantastic job with the engines. Very refined yet powerful. No prizes for guessing why you mentioned the 7OO!

Pune's sole Toyota showroom have no idea about this limited edition. I have sent them the news clipping, let's see whether they revert with pricing.

Actually the XUV3OO with the mStallion 1.2 (Turbosport) has 230 NM torque coming from a small 1.2 litre engine. The engine is a direct injection engine and is turbocharged. This is the reason why it is able to output such as high level of torque from such a small engine.

Toyota and Honda do not believe the Indian market is ready for turbocharged engines. They fear the quality of fuel available in India may harm the engine long term. These manufacturers build cars with a 20-25 year life span in mind, while the European manufacturers are thinking 10-12 years. Indian manufacturers are wishing for a 15-20 years lifespan but not all aspects of their cars are engineered for that kind of life. You will see Corollas and Citys of 2005 vintage happily pottering about our roads even today but you will seldom find a Jetta of 2008 vintage on the roads.

I would say not to get carried away with torque numbers and completely neglect horsepower which is the true measure of performance. The xuv300 makes around 120hp while the petrol hycross makes 170. All it means is that the XUV300 has a small powerband with a much lower redline.

I had made a thread a while ago to address the problem of only looking at torque:

Torque is even more important than horsepower, for a large people mover like the Innova, (than it is for a subcompact SUV like the XUV3OO).

The rpm rage where the peak torque is made is critical as well. a flat torque spread over a greater range of engine RPMs is crucial for a people mover, torque should not be peaky over a short range of engine speeds.

The Innova's 2.0 litre NA engine makes peak torque of 209 NM at 4800 rpm. The range of rpm over which the peak torque is available (the torque curve) is not published by Toyota. NA engines generally need higher ROM running to access the peak torque as compared to Turbopetrols.

Whereas, the XUV300 makes the peak torque of 230NM all the way from 1500-3750 rpm. Notice how this engine is able to generate peak torque at a lower rpm than the Innova. Not only is the 1.2mStallion able to deliver higher torque than the TNGA 2.0, but it is driving a vehicle when fully loaded, is going to be 40% lighter than the Innova GX which is fully loaded. No prizes for guessing which vehicle is going feel unstressed and able to afford quick overtaking and speeding away from complete stops.

I’m afraid N/A engines have flatter torque curves while turbocharged engines rise up to a plateau and then dip. Please do go through my linked post when you have the time, I have posted some graphs comparing turbocharged engines as well as N/A engines of some older cars sold in India
