i guess, they'll launch this in india by 2009, and position it above the getz as in uk its been classified as a C-segment hatch. i hope they launch it with the upcoming premium hatches. it looks great.

the official website - Hyundai UK - i30

this car is not the new getz, we already have the new getz in india. this is a c segment hatch which is big as a SRV.
the i30 is being launched in the US a a Elantra touring, a 5 door hatch. therfore in terms of space and size, its a elantra. so, i gues they wont be launching it pretty soon, as india might not accept such an expensive hatch.
but, by 2009, it might land up because many premium hatches in the range of 6-7 lacs are being launched. so hyundai might see the results first and then launch the i30
great engine options:
  • 1.4 L (1396 cc) 16-valve I4; 109 bhp (80 kW)
  • 1.6 L (1591 cc) 16-valve I4; 122 bhp (90 )
  • 2.0 L (1975 cc) 16-valve I4; 143 bhp (105 kW)
  • 1.6 L (1582 cc) 16-valve diesel I4; 90 bhp (66 kW)
  • 1.6 L (1582 cc) 16-valve diesel I4; 115 bhp (85 kW)
The i30's dimensions at 4245 mm long, 1765 mm wide and 1480 mm high, just look at its size
but guys, dont you think, if hyundai launches this car, fully loaded with a 1.6 diesel engine for 7.5 lacs, it would be great.

This has been discussed somewhere in team-bhp!

I remember thinking its a Civic with an 'H' badge (In place of 'H') (When viewed front on!)

Guys, look carefully. The pics posted by fx45 is not i30, its code named i20. Its a different car more in the shape of Getz and looks much smaller than i30. India is a manufacturing hub for getz, may be this car would come here soon.

The entire window profile is different from the i30. This is definitely a Getz category car. But when was the first time the face lifted Getz showed its face in India? March this year. So highly unlikely one is going to see this in India. The latest Facelift of the Getz was launched in Europe when the GETZ made its debut in India.

This is simply confusing. If this comes to india then Hyundai will have

1) Santro ( against alto)
2) Pa/ new santro
3) Getz 1.1
4) Getz 1.3
5) New Getz
6) Accent
7) New accent ( Verna)

So now that will be the use of Getz 1.1 at all?

Yes, it does seem that recent i-series Hyundai hatches are inspired by the rear of the 1-series. The car looks good in profile. Rear headroom looks compromised though.

Hyundai needs to ship those i-series cars into India very soon. The Swift and SX4 have worked wonders for brand Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai needs a similar shake-up.
