G'men,

The Chennai on-road prices for the Getz are 5.02L for the GL and 5.30L for the GLS (including ABS and alloy wheels).

Hang on, the Palio D ELX (with alloy wheels) can be mine for 5.39L on the road in Chennai. Am I missing something here? That's a 1.3 trying to take on a 1.9 for almost the same price. Without ABS though.

Unless it's these numbers that I'm not crunching properly:

Getz 1.3: 12 valve SOHC engine / Power - 82.9 PS @ 5500 RPM / Torque - 11.8 KGM @ 3200 RPM
Palio 1.9: 8 valve SOHC engine / Power - 63 PS @ 4500 RPM / Torque - 12.2 KGM @ 2500 RPM

Help needed here guys - which is the more superior car?

I saw the Getz today. And if the numerous Getz reviews and testdrives (mostly European) are anything to go by, the Palio has lost its title as Indias best hatch.

Also I never thought too much of the Palio D with just 63 bhp. Didnt find it too refined either.

The Palio D just seems too expensive also

Another VFM Hyundai baby!!!

Just waiting for the CRDi version. Given its compactness and lighter weight than the Accent 1.5 CRDi, its gonna prove itself amazingly well. But again the key factor will be its pricing, where Hyundai wins!!!
