Honda jazz may come this year. But being honda you can expect the tradition of overprized product.

Nothing concrete as of now but I'm expecting Sandero and Aveo (facelifted). Who knows.. ford may join the gang with fiesta or something. Dont think polo is slated for this year.

PS: Sandero or Aveo may not be "premium" but they might offer similar space and FE diesels as competition.

Sandero is based on logan and shares many components including same interiors. It is expected to come with 1.5 diesel powering logan and a 1.2 petrol. Compared to GP, looks i won't comment but space should be very similar.

GP vs Sandero
75/83 bhp vs 67/82 bhp (diesel)
4030 mm vs 4020 mm (length)
2510 mm vs 2590 mm (wheelbase)

And according to a very recent article in Hindu, its coming this year. SOURCE

Quote:
Renault has given the green light to the Sandero hatchback which is due for launch in 2009-10 financial year. The original plan was to build the Sandero in Renault-Nissan’s all-new manufacturing facility near Chennai.
However, with the current slowdown in the automobile industry, Renault-Nissan is going slow on its Greenfield facility.
Contrary to market speculations that Logan production would also be shifted to Chennai, it is obvious that both the Logan and the Sandero could be manufactured in M&M’s Nashik facility.
Plans to produce the estate version of the Logan, the MCV, in Nashik have been shelved. As a result, there is sufficient capacity for both the Logan saloon and Sandero hatchback.
Producing both cars in the same plant makes logistics easy as both share many components, notably the 1.5litre dCI diesel.
However, the Sandero will get its own 1.2 litre petrol motor to meet the small car norms.

There is obviously some relation between the launch date and the number of such cars caught testing on our roads. Can any of our friends in the various automobile companies tell us what is the average time gap between full blown road tests of new models and their formal launches.

One would think that as the launch date nears, the frequency of catching these camoflouged but obvious models becomes all too high.

Also can anyone confirm on the rocket version of the GP?? (I mean the high performance engine option.)

To add to that, about a couple of months before the launch of the vehicle the 'Teaser' website goes up with a countdown, eg. A-Star/Linea/Xylo.

As far as I know, The government defined small cars as one with length not exceeding 4,000 mm with an engine capacity not exceeding 1200 cc for petrol cars and 1500 cc for diesel cars.

The possible engine versions of Grande punto are 1.3 MJD Diesela and 1.4 8v Petrol.

As per the goverment norms, The diesel Grande comes under the small car norms. But with the engine capacity of 1368cc for petrol, it fails to qualify as a small car which will significantly add tax to the petrol grande.

So what is the read advantage of shaving off some 3 cm from the back of grande?
Or does FIAT have any other engine which is below 1200 cc which would be enough for powering the Grande??
