I agree with Roms.
It seems Fiat is taking directly on Swift, hence the same 1.3 FGT engine & pricing it aggressively at par with Swift.
But, the top-end version could have been 1.3 VGT.

Now what happens if and when Fiat finally give the Linea the 1.6 VGT?The 1.3VGT would probably make its way under the GP's hood then?
Yes, this will happen most likely!

Thanks Sidgo for the scoop & review.

Dear Sidgo, How is the general build quality. Are the doors heavy as in Palio? How are the plastics inside? How is the upholstery? any leather option?

Thanks

Here are the various specs of our national engine under different hoods:

Palio : 75bhp @ 4000 rpm/184 Nm @ 2000 rpm
Vista : 75bhp @ 4000 rpm/190 Nm @ 1750 rpm
Swift : 75bhp @ 4000 rpm/190 Nm @ 2000 rpm

While the Vista develops max torque earlier, the excess wt plays it down.
Now, why does the Fiat trim make the lowest of the torque figures?

Are we expecting the same in the GP also??

Sidgo, time for you to delight us once again with some detailed engine specs.

How was the overall fit and finish of the car? Any panel gaps or cheap plastics?

I am going to wait for Hyundai to offer their i20 CRdi. Let's see how that car stacks up against the GP MJD.
Exactly my thoughts Amit sir. Being a Palio user myself I have had harrowing experiences with their service. Grande Punto need to offer exceptional value and features to entice me to buy a fiat again. Till then I would rather stick to Maruti/Hyundai. A$$ is highest on my list now after the Fiat experience.

Like the Fiat Multijet, Hyundai's 1.4 crdi also have both FGT and VGT variants. AFAIK i20 will get the 1.4 FGT (74 bhp) version to start with.

The problem now is that everybody had expected the VGT, but only FGT is available. They could have at least offered VGT with a little premium. They anyway have the product line for the VGT in their factory.

Anyways, myself excited about Fiat becoming successful as I also bought their car.

I agree and that would be the case whoever has experienced the legendary fiat A.S.S in the past.

However, this is what they are saying on FIAT India website.

Fiat Grande Punto. EDIT : Launch on 17th June!-service.jpg

I hope they translate their words/intentions into SOLID ACTION on the ground. Even then it will take a lot of time for perceptions to really change.

Thanks Sid.
I was expecting as all of us a 86bhp but then national engine is what we have to do with for now.
Sid did you tried to get any idea of pricing? I am sure you might have but due to some reasons you cant disclose as yet
